Hi all, this weekend I have done quite a lot of motorway driving and today upon washing my Punto Evo (Ambient White), I can see a tiny chip on the bonnet. I mean it is so tiny you wouldn't even notice it if you didn't know it was there. I am happy to leave it and don't really like the idea of trying to paint over it, but I'm a bit concerned about rust.

Should I leave it or try finding a colour match to touch-up and is it likely to rust if I don't do anything?

Thanks for your help.

I was washing mine today and i must have about 4 chips on the bonnet of my new punto Evo. mine is Flamenco red so it's more noticeable and i'm fuming! But, it's inevitable i suppose.

I've been looking at a quick touch up and me personally, i'm going to get the Fiat touch up paint pen (if they have one in my colour yet!) and then each year or so, i might take it to my local bodyshop to get a proper job on it done because no doubt i'm going to get more as i work 40 miles away! The bodyshop i use is really good as i've used him a couple of times with my 2007 Grande Punto and he's Fiat approved so i don't have to pay dealer prices and i'm within the paint warranty etc!

Good luck with yours.

None of the paint chips I've had on my bonnet after 67,000 miles have rusted. I do touch them up with a Fiat touch up & lacqeur when I wash it though. Get used to it, water based paint seems easily chipped, keep your eye on the front edges of the rear wheel arches too... down at the bottom. Screen pillars and the leading edge of the roof above the 'screen can catch stones too.
