Debadging?

Debadging?

Didn't get chance to do mine today, I'll have a go tomorrow evening when it's light, also gives me chance to buy some dental floss and t-cut in the mean time =D

I'll post pics to let you all know.

I didn't really need the hairdryer, just the floss did it for me :)

I used 3-step maguires to finish: paint cleaner, polish & wax.. there's just a slight shadow?:(

my boyfriend said that T-cut will only take away damaged laquer and not paint.. so it won't make any difference really cos it's the paint that has faded in the sun?

oh and sorry for hijacking your thread nightmare :) haha

Megs 3 step is a good idea for this job. No cutting involved.

T-Cut however if you use it enough will get you back to bare metal. Its an abrasive rather than a polish based on fillers like Megs (Step 2)

yeah but I don't want to take the paint off, or get down to bare metal haha

if I did T-cut then I would have to do it all over and then re-laquer to make everything even wouldn't I?

does it take a layer of the paint or the laquer or both??

And if it takes a layer of the paint, would I not have to do it all over to make it even?

Lol :p

Looks spot on. Try some T-cut on the affected area.

DO NOT USE standard red bottle t-cut on clear coated cars unless you are planning on refining the finish later with a finer polish it leaves the clear coat cloudy you want t-cut Metalic (sort of purple bottle)

the paint shouldn't have faded as the clear coat stops this from happening in most cases its the clear coat that has oxidised (y)

t-cut metalic will remove a small layer of the laquer don't worry there is a lot to work on usually and you wont go through it unless your up all night with the metallic stuff

it probably would be worth doing the whole boot lid anyway as you might have a nice shiney patch on your boot lid otherwise :)

Just done mine

Went with the hot soapy water and credit card method. Don't think the water was quite hot enough as it didn't come off too easy and left a lot of the stickiness behind. Was a bit worried as you could clearly see it said punto still

However, a bit of t-cut and wax later, you can now never even tell it was there. First time using t-cut so wasn't right sure the best method for applying it but seems to have worked ok

mine left a massivly different colour behine, and t-cut doesnt help due to the actuall paint faiding under the clear coat, red cars do this so anyone reading this be carefull if yours is red, yellow also are the worst colours for it.

i recently removed 'Punto' from the back of my GP, all i did was boil up some kettle water, poor it over one part at a time and pealed off the letters, left no marks or glue what so ever, all i had to do was give it a clean to get rid of the faint outline
