Hi there,

Can anybody tell me how you would spray side skirts? i am thinking of buying some and would like some advice or a step by step on how to achieve this... i doont suppose anybody knows the paint code or name of my paint colour either?

Thanks
Luke Nicholls

open the bonnet and its on a sticker. Has 3 things, paint name, paint number and some other crap, cant remember what it is.

And i'd image that doing the skirts would be the same as painting anything, although i would use either airless or a spray gun rather than aerosols.

p.s fit front mudflaps too,as if you look at ur lower quarter you will probably see a few stone chips on the front of both rear arches, but when u put skirts on,u normaly have/or going to have bigger wheels and they do throw the crap off the uk's mighty fine roads!!

:worship:eek:h,u have the big wheels, get the mirrors done at the same time??

if you lived local id do em for ya as i have laquer, primer but no base coat im afraid.

Hi there, thanks for the reply... i think i might try doing it myself... if it goes wrong i will take to bodyshop... how about fitting is it easy? how do you do it? or how much will that cost at a body shop?

Thanks
Luke

Luke they are bolted or screw'd from underneath, then the sides are bonded if i remember right! and if theyre arbarth ones theres a screw behind the abarth badge into the quarter panels.
At the dealership i used to park em next to a wall and use wood off the wall to hod em in place while the sealer goes off, when theyre painted look at them in strong light as sometimes when you think theyre coverd you can see through to the primer.
then offer em up to the car,get some help!! and you want to run some masking tape along where the top edge is going to sit, then scotch the rear or the skirt and the paintwork below the masking tape,as this makes sure theyre on for good (y) when the sealer goes off!
use black sikerflex, and you want some panel wipe to get rid of the excess sealer, and some gloves,it can get a bit messy and if the weathers warm you have to work fast as the sealer will start going off (but no danger of that with uk weather this time of year)

Richie
