It's going to look crap if you try to spray it yourself. You might get away with doing a decent enough job with the filler but I'd get the whole bonnet resprayed professionally.

Filling Bonnet Recess

Hi,
Im wanting to de-badge my Punto MK2 bonnet myself but the badge has a recess so im going to fill it with body filler just wondering if anyone has any tips about how to use it?

Will this filler be ok or is there any better ones?

Do i just apply it to the recess and sand until it is smooth and level with the rest of the bonnet?

Cheers
Brin

Yeh i was thinking of getting it all resprayed professionally probly would be best(y)

Il try the filler myself if it goes wrong i can just get the pro to sort it all out and paint it for me.

TBH il try filling myself try painting myself and if it goes wrong then call the pros and get it sprayed lol

hey. You will need two types of filler if you are going to attempt without welding a plate on. :)
P38 and P40 I think. iirc 38 is like fibreglass sorta, you have to first apply it, like the foundations for the P40. applying matt fibres on it. Halfords should sell all 3 things. Then sand it down flat - using filler primer to show high spots and low spots.

Then using the p40, its smoother stuff, do the same. but without the fibre matting stuff. Get it completely flat. then spray.

I wouldn't spray it yourself though. I did and although you wouldn't notice it if not pointed out, it still looks crap up close. I'll show you Sunday :)
