Hey guys got a bit of a weird one here. Few days ago a roof tile fell from my house and put a mid sized dent (around 3 inches diameter and 1/2 inch deep in the middle) in the roof of my Punto. (n)

Was wondering if anybody could tell me how much this will cost to be repaired as i have no idea rele and dont want to spend more money than i should be on this...

Help apreciated Adam (y)

Sorry Adam; wont be cheap I suspect
Kids got a car of mine with a balloon full of water they chucked from the multi-story carpark roof; little darlings
It caused "ripples" in the roof like when you throw a stone in the water
So it took a lot of painstaking filling and rubbing down to get it right
[The roof HAS to be right; its the main thing you see when you approach a car]

Just a silly afterthought
Any chance your house insurance may cover the damage?
Worth checking I think. It would if the car was owned by a third party

Won't be able to. Won't cover it, just like it doesn't cover a uninsured car in your garage etc (n)

thats different though jon the car is parked in the garage if it goes up in flames it will be exempt from cover (as will many expensive items my mountain bikes not covered by them for example)

however the damage is caused by an item falling off the house onto the car so you might get a claim in but i assume that the policy wont cover you for 3rd party damages (would be different if it was your neighbours car that was hit by the slate for example)

Who's to say that some thug didn't lob a brick at your car one night and you just came out and noticed it there... You COMPLETELY certain that that's not what happened??

I wouldnt have thought much, fill it and paint it, any bodyshop that cant knock it out and smooth it up isnt worth going to

Ive just paid 350 for all the side under the door moulding painted, front bumper and the drivers wing repaired, the wing was in a terrible state, full of dents and creases, the body shop have done a masterpeice with it, its perfect, its great what they can do

Yes but they are relatively easy compared to thin roof panels.

Roof skins are ****ing expensive to fix because they are so hard to get perfect.

Dent removal specialists are ok if paint is not cracked. I would expect that there is cracking if a roof tile landed on it?? I think it will have to be a bodyshop job to get it back to original condition. We have all seen cheap jobs to fill and paint the holes left by taxi etc. aerials! As was mentioned earlier, the roof is very noticable on cars.

Hey guys sorry im late responding iv been away for a while.

Thanks again, Adam
