Hi,

I managed to scuff the left-hand side of my front bumper on my Punto, does anyone have some advice for getting it fixed? I was going to try and do it myself but I can't seem to locate the correct paint anywhere. The paint code is 598/A and it's called Merengue Orange.

I've attached a photo of the damage.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
James.

Local car bodyshop or a national firm like Chips Away etc will be able to fix it and match the paint.

However if you are going to do it yourself, the dealers will sell the touch up sticks and you'll be able to get a spray paint in the colour from Halfords or any half decent car paint shop.

Thanks for the advice, I dropped into Halfords yesterday but the only colour they appear to make up is 598, which is apparently another type of FIAT orange which goes by a different name to the Merengue Orange. I'm guessing it was the orange that was used on the MK2 Punto, although I could be wrong!

I don't know whether to bite the bullet now and get Chips Away to fix it, although I am told it could cost around £100 to fix it! At least I know they'll do a quality job though. What do you think?

Cheers,
James.

as its a newish car i'd have that professionally repaired as its deep scratches. it is going to need a smart repair which will involve sanding, filling, sanding some more, priming, base coat (598/A orange) and a lacquer top coat which needs fading out.

thats going to need to be sanded back skimmed with filler primed then sprayed. since it is a newish car i would get it done properally. whats the point of having a new car if the back bumper looks bodge jobed on it?

Whereabouts are you James? I can recommend a smart repairer who will do it properly for about £85.
