I've heard DIY tints are a right royal PITA and the finish is never as good as a pro job.

However if you do want to DIY them, don't buy this kit. Its a precut kit, meaning that if you screw just one of them up you will have to buy the kit again to get the matching shade. If you buy the film that comes on a roll atleast then if you screw a window up you can just use another piece.

ive diy'ed my own windows if youve never done it before make sure you read the instructions propperly or it could be very costly, your main pain is goin to be the rear windscreen, you need to do this in stripes as the curve in the window will cause you endless problems.

and dont buy the ebay pre-cut it isnt that hard to cut them yourself anyway(y)

Get a price from a pro :worship: !!

i got my Seicento back 3 windows done 95% black done for £70 by a mobile tinter, took about 30 minutes and its got a lifetime Guantee :D

My mates tried it they seen will shocking outcomes, i know people how have tried 2-3 times and still failed... one mate took her windows out to do it, got them on without bubbles but can see light marks all over it will she used the tool to get bubbles out + didn't do the back window cause its too hard

I would just get a price from someone who knows what they're doing

Hope this helps lol

booked mine in for monday for a mobile tinter, will let you know how it goes ... £90 for all 4 windows and the rear screen.. so hopefully it all goes okay!

i agree with the above about not getting the kit, you have a pair of scissors and a knife surely:p

I wouldn't use the film as it never looks right, whether you've done it before or not...

send your car away to someone who will do it properly, by removing the glass and tinting with the powder and baking in an oven probably looking at about £250 dependant on size of car

if a jobs worth doing it's worth doing properly (y)

£250 is a lot if your on a budget ....is powder and baking 3x as good as flim ? and can you really tell the differents without looking really close + where powder and bake your going to be without your car for a while, fliming takes about half hour and done at your house lol

everyone is on a budget :shakehead: at the end of the day everybody does things there own way and what's good enough for someone may not be good enough for someone else... I personally do things properly first time, cos this is important to me, when I get mine tinted i'll let you know how much better it is :D

oh and i've got round the issue of being without my car by aquiring a duplicate full set of glass so i keep costs down by not paying some numpty to dismantle my interior to remove it and then refit it all and what i can't bond in/out myself my friendly autoglass man does :p

if it takes half an hour it's the quality of half an hours work which can't be good

that's my two cents at the end of day, the OP asked for opinions

When yours in done post up a picture next to a picture of mine and see if anybody can tell which one is which ?

If you've had yours done by film i'd be interested to see how good it is? beacause I know three people who's had it done and only one looked ok to start with but 6-12 months later they all looked shocking  out of interest how long has yours been done?

My tints have been on for just over a year now and still look great ( Picture a few posts ago)

Pro tinters give lifetime guantee because they no that it not go wrong ..... on mine they isn't one bubble and isn't one crease :p

on powder and bake can you see on the windows when its done ?

Fordy, your way is all well and good on a range rover. Pointless on a second hand fiat that is going to be sold on in a few years. And it looks better yes but doesn't warrant the extra £150.

Besides have limo glass (thats all you described btw) put in all 5 windows and when the police see them and ask you to peel it before you drive away you will be stuck unless you carry your plain glass around and can refit it by the roadside. Either that or they will take it away for you. Wouldn't bother tbh.

ive had it done Limo on the back and 30% on the front... looks nice... by a mobile tinter... come out perfect

Good Good :)

Makes a massive differents to the car aswell, mine looks 100% with tints than without them am sure its the same with your

You got a picture ?

I totally agree withyou about not spending lots of money on an old car that you won't have for long. the OP linked to film for a GP which ain't exactly old nor cheap...

glad to hear fella! I ope it looks good and if your happy with it than thats all that matters (y)

Can you see out of baked windows ? lol
Anyone got them ?

Zak

Yes you can see out of baked windows! if not it'd be called panting not tinting :p lol

I know two guys with with them baked and they look the dogs :D

I'll be baking mine as i like the quality and £250 is nothing compare to money going into the engine :p at the end of the day everyone has there own preferences:shrug:

I dont know why you think tint film is so bad? Ive had 2 cars done with film now by pros with good quality film used. First one i had for 2 years with no problems and my current car has been tinted for over a year now, again with no problems. My dad has had 5-6 cars done with tint film again with no problems so getting windows baked seems like an over complicated solution for a problem that doesnt exist. And is baking windows just not an alternate way of putting the film on anyway?
