Hey i was wondering if i could do this and get a reasonable finnish?

I have those original black plastic bumpers on my Red Mk2,
can i simply sand them down, prime them, then find the correct paint code and spray them with a air compressor gun? (My mate has one, thought it might be better than doing it straight out the can)...

I was just wondering if theres any point in buying some red sporting ones, when i could just spray my current ones...

Anyone done this?

Agreed.
By the time you sand, prep and paint you will have payed the same amount as already colour coded ones. And the finish will never be better
I see a lot of RED ELX's/actives. I'm not sure which but I know I see lots on the road in your colour. I would look on eBay or scrap yard.
