Went to Tesco's tonight with My Girlfriend to get our weekend ( excuse the pun lol ) shopping in and came out to find a nice fresh dent and a half. The dent has also moved the light 1 inch to the left to.

Now I am not to sure if it was done in my local home car park or in Tesco's car park. I have scanned all of the other cars in my car park and could not find any dents in theirs. So it looks like it's down to me to fix it (cheeky sods for hitting my car and driving off grrrr)

Anyway.... I have looked into taking the wing off and have noticed that it is just bolted on.
So my question is.
Is it worth taking the wing off and hitting it with a rubber mallet followed by a bit of p38... or buy a new wing and a spray job?

best would be to find a wing at a scrappy in same colour

I will take a looksie at our local scrap yard Monday.
Have you or anybody had any experience in taking off a wing?
Will the bolts be, snap a spanner tight ( like my drop links )?

Nice, thanks Dave :)

Need a new bonnet to, as mine is chipped as hell. Be a good chance to find a nice donor for both. Maybe even a new bumper.

Sorry just one more question lol

Will a Bravo wing / bonnet fit? (Just in case I can not find a marea)

Was there no CCTV cameras around mate? we need to find the cheeky sods to put a nice fresh dent in there face i say :bang:

I did think about ringing Tescos to find out, I did not do it last night as I was fuming and couldn't even see the end of my nose for steam. I might of gone nuts if they said there is no camera facing that way.
I will give them a ring today.

Not to sure how insurance stands, as I hear that car parks are used at owners risk and insurance do not cover them ( is this true? )

Popped down to my local scrap yard ( Bacons ) and they have just had a clear out so their parts are slim. No Marea or Bravo :(

Anybody knows of a good Scrap Yard in Norfolk?

If thats true cant you just say it happened in your street at night? Surely theres no way of them knowing where it got hit?

Phoned a few scrap yards around Norfolk and no joy :(
Checked your ePER and it quoted me £89 :( Plus I need to spray it.
Insurance job... I will have to pay a £150 excess and it would cost that to do myself.

Was looking at getting cam belt done this month , plus tax is due at the end of it and I can not see Mrs Marea liking the fact I have to spend more money on it.

Another option I am looking at is fixing it , even if it is temp until I get one in a scrap yard. Its doing my head in looking at it and makes me want to cry knowing it is there.

To get the dent out, I was looking at a guide from http://www.ehow.com/how_2352498_repair-car-dent.html . Heating it up with a hair dryer and popping it out ( after taking the wing off first ).

Hi mate,

To be honest, heating it with a hair dryer wont work on that dent. Its too severe. Personally, if i were going to do a temporary repair on that, I would remove the wing, and then use a rubber mallet to gently push the dent out from the rear. Dont hit it too hard or youl push the dent out too far, or crack the pain even more. Just take it slowly. There is a lip at the bottom of the wing where it meets the bumper. You will probably have to bend this out with a pair of mole grip or pliers. Then just a quick dust over with a rattle can in your cars colour. Its by no means a perfect repair, but it will certainly make it a lot less noticable.

Rub off the flaking paint on the bumper, and again do a localised dusting of paint. Then just save up unitl yo can get a proper reapair done.

Hope that helps,
Alan

Nice one a1ant :)
Well I plan to attack it either tomorrow or Tuesday in the day time. I work nights and the kiddies are at school in the day so I should have plenty of time. I am hoping that one turn up in a scrap yard soon. My girlfriend even suggested that we get it priced up at a garage for a new wing and a bonnet touch up  So I might be in luck yet lol

I will let you all know on what happens, even take some snaps of the new fix/repair.

Thank you all for your advice (y)

Still no joy on getting a second hand wing.

So I bit the bullet today and ripped the wing off.

Spent the evening with a rubber mallet, a little p38 and some spray paint.
Could not take any piccies of my wing tonight as I do not have a flash on my phone.

Want to get it back on tomorrow :)
