Hello good folks,

Anyone got a clue how much it would cost to completely change the colour of a Punto to black?

Cheers,

Rich.

For a complete respray i.e. All panels, inside bonnet and door shuts, around the boot shuts you'll be looking at least £1000 for a half decent sprayjob.
U thinking of changing the colour of your punto??
It would be easier to buy a black car, oooh hang on you could buy mine!! :D:D

i'm lucky lol....i had a complete respray for 300 squid for my fiat uno in metalic blue. Of course it helps if you own a compressor and Know how to do a class spray job :D

If you want to do it the "compressor"-way you have a few options.
If you buy a HVLP (high volume, low pressure) spraygun you'll need a compressor being able to deliver about 400 l/m (14 cfm) at 2-3 bars (43psi). This means that it should have a 5 hp engine (and these are expensive - and require 400V).
HVLP sprayguns seems the be what most pro's use.

But you can also do it a little cheaper - buy a 2hp compressor (50 liter tank, 230 l/m, 8 bar). Then buy a good spraygun that doesn't require a big amount of air.
I did some extensive research before i bought mine - and i ended up buying a german Schneider gun (these should actually be better than most HLVP guns). You can find them cheap on the german ebay (they are normally 200+EUR but sell at 50-70EUR).
http://www.schneider-druckluft.de/produkte/nutzung/farbspritzpistolen/art/farbspritz.pdf - Go for the FP-HTE gun.

Also - you can buy enough paint for the whole car (including cleaner, primer and clearcoat) for about 100EUR (also on the german ebay).

One-cylinder air compressor, complete with sixpiece accessory set. Easy to use, it features a directly coupled motor and built-in starter, relief pressure reducer, air intake filter and pressure switch, regulator gauge, self-stop quick coupling, drain valve and safety valve. The accessory kit comprises tyre pressure gauge, blow-out gun, air hose and three-piece adaptor set.

230 volt
Speed 2850/min-1
Operating pressure 8 bar
Air intake capacity 210 litres per min
Air output at 0 bar = 140 litres per min.

how big a tank?
25 or 50 liter?
If it's for a 50 l it's cheap - if it's only 25 l it would be better to pay a little extra and get a 50 l, so it doesn't have to be running all the time when using it.

I bought a 50 liter for about ~64 GBP.

blimy this is an old thread init, when using a compressor have low low presure for spraying or it will come out like artex, if using 2pak you will need a big powerfull compresor to power an air mask aswell as the spay gun, if you dont use air mask you may die:(

Aren't there some rules about using 2PAK paint. They're not very environmentally friendly.
