I gave a set of brembo's to one of my friends who works for a porsche bodyshop to be painted, today i had a phone call to tell me they wernt able to source the paint to do it but they will rub them down and prime them for me.

they advised i bought some hammerite smooth and applyed that for colour after.

i'm slightly concerned where the optimum operating temp for the brake pads is 600C and the temp resistance of the paint is 150C that its just going to melt and run off

the boiling point of the fluid is around 300C i think?

any advise?

I would recommend not using Hammerite as it is not made for the job in hand, naming resisting high temperatures, salt, brake fluid, brake dust etc it discolours fairly quickly and looks off.

I would only ever use a propriety brake calliper lacquer.

I have used with great success in the past Folia Tec, as with all German products TuV approved, made for the job it is being asked to do, gives a much better finish that sets more like an epoxy type finish that you get on springs etc It is available from Halfords for about £22 or can be found cheaper on line.

And for Brembo callipers you can buy new decals off ebay for them for a few pounds, this is what i did on my Porsche Brembo's for fittings to my integrale, didn't fancy having Porsche on them, so painted and applied new decals.

Here are some quick pics of my Celica callipers, note the 315mm vented front AND rear discs as standard! Nice dirty wheels as well and lovely kerb'd mark to the bargain, could have thought about position of wheel before pic

well since your brakes are of much higher class your theories are right. tho those temperatures are safeguards, its a bit more than that but if your right about the temps your calipers reach then it certainly wont look great for long.
j333evo has the idea. folia tec make specific stuff for each job and was made to paint on calipers, hammerite is just a strong paint with a reasonably high temperature resistance, wasnt made to go on brakes
since youve obviously invested in a decent set of brakes i would spend the extra money and go for the folia tec kits. i think halfords still stock these, theres a few companies out there producing the same sorta kit i just havent had experience with them
