Right, I just crashed my car into the back of a van due to me not paying attention for a few moments. I won't go into the specifics of it in this thread.

I was just wondering if someone could tell me roughly how much they think it's going to cost to repair. From what I can see the following is damaged:

Fusebox in engine bay has come off its mounting and some of the relays etc are all smashed up and broken.

The car won't start because the code light doesn't go out - I'm guessing this is because of the fusebox problem. The engine turns over fine though.

Front bumper - needs new one

Bonnet - needs new one

Slam panel - needs new one

Passenger side front wing - might be repairable, or it might need replacing

Passenger side "inner" wing - this is all bent so I guess it needs replacing

This is the extent of the damage as far as I can see. I'm guessing I'll be lucky to get change from £1000? :(

Hi mate, and bad luck!
yea by the sounds of it youll be lucky to get change from 1k. Have you got any pics? might make it easier to give more accurate info? I take it the rad, condensor and interooler all survived?

Cheers,
Alan

Will get some pics up tomorrow if I can, really don't feel like going outside now, I can't stand to look at it. I'm totally gutted. :(

And yeah, from what I can see the rad, condensor and intercooler all look good. It's mainly cosmetic damage tbh, apart from the fusebox.

I forget to mention that the passenger side light cluster is all smashed up as well. :(

i can sympathise with you mate! its a crap feeling when your motor gets damaged! I take it also the airbag/s didnt deploy?
Best thing to do is stip it all down (ie bumper off, light out, wing off etc and then you can have a btter look if anything more important has bent underneath. You were lucky the condenser etc survived as they would have added a fair bit to the price.

let us know how you get on etc
Alan

Yeah, the airbags didn't deploy, I was only going about 15-20mph when I hit it! I can't believe it's done so much damage, it probably looks worse than it is.

I'll try and get some decent pics of it tomorrow if I feel upto it. I've phoned a few bodyshops up but they said to phone back Monday morning. :(

Its rare to see someone on message boards with such honesty

I hope you get it sorted

Took some pics of it this morning and had a closer look at the damage. The damaged parts that I can see are:

Under bonnet fusebox
Under bonnet fusebox casing
Passenger side light cluster
Passenger side front wing
Passenger side front inner wing
Front upper panel
Bonnet
Front bumper
Slam panel

Hi mate,

It looks nasty, but i dont think its actually that bad. Once you get the bonnet off and the wing off it will look much better. Was it a high backed van because it looks like the upper half of the car has taken most of the damage (which is a good thing as it crumples much easier and takes more of the force). As for the fuesebox, from those pics it looks like the main (and most expensive part) is in tact, but has just got 2 or 3 relays that have smashed on it. You may be able to get away with replacing the relays and just getting a new fusebox cover from fiat which is ALOT cheaper. It s difficalt to tell from the pics but it doesnt look like theres been any deformation to the chasis leg at all which is a good thing.

Cheers.
Alan

Fiat sell them seprately. Will be about 5-10 quid each. I can go and have a look at my JTD and tell you which ones it is you need if you like?

Cheers,
Alan

Hi mate,

Ok, bottom left relay is T19 20amp Heated Filter relay
the one to the right of it is T5 20amp Air conditioning compressor relay
The red one behind T19 is T9 30amp Engine management controll system relay
The one on the right hand side of the box is T14 20amp fog light relay.

I can take a photo is that woud help and label them.

EDIT: just to add each realy is £11.03 from fiat.

Cheers,
Alan
