Just Crashed

the bumper looks ok, id leave that until you find one from a scrappy/ebay, it might take a few months but your bumpers looks ok, and will save you hundred or so.

but as said, it doesnt look that bad, once its had a new bonnet (£15 scrappy) and a wing (£10 scrappy) it will look alot better, it will cost alot if you buy new and have it sprayed though.

Hi mate,

heres the relay layout with the ones i can see from the phot you need. If there are any others just let me know and ill tell you what they are.

T3 = 20 amp, Horns Relay
T5 = 20amp, air conditioning Compressor Relay
T9 = 30amp, Engine management control unit (prob why you cant start the engine)
T19 = 20 amp, Heated Filter Relay

Hope that helps,
Alan

Yeah it shouldn't cost that much tbh, what I basically need to do is:

Replace relays in fusebox and get new fusebox casing so that the engine will start again - hopefully this is the only thing stopping it from starting.

Source passenger side front inner wing and have bodyshop spray and fit it - this will probably cost a lot due to the labour involved in replacing it, it looks like a lot of stuff will have to be stripped off the car to do the job. Anyone know where I can get a passenger side front inner wing, will Fiat do them?

Get bodyshop to fit new slam panel.

Source new front upper panel and get bodyshop to spray it - I should be able to fit it myself, it looks like it is bolted on.

Get Abarth front bumper and have it sprayed by bodyshop to replace standard ELX bumper.

Source new passenger side front wing and have bodyshop spray it or try and find one in the right colour in a scrappy/breaker. I should be able to fit it myself, I think it is bolted on.

Try and source second hand bonnet from a scrappy/breaker in the same colour. If not, source new bonnet and have bodyshop debadge it by filling in the recess where the Fiat badge goes and then spray it.

Source second hand passenger side light cluster - brand new ones are a rip off! Will be able to fit it myself.

Also, whilst the cars in the bodyshop I will have them colour code the handles and wing mirrors. (y)

Cheers mate, that's great. Regarding the Air conditioning compressor relay, my car doesn't have air conditioning, will I still have to replace it or will the relay be for something else on my car?

Hi mate,

I would probably replace it as it may have something to do with the socnd speed on the JTD cooling fan. Just to be on the safe side.

Cheers,
Alan

Does anyone know if Mk2's had different types of front light clusters? Gonna be ringing some breakers up on Monday and want to make sure I end up with a matching light cluster. :eek:

Hi mate,

There are a few types. there's the obvious one with fog lights and one without. Then there are ones with H1 bulbs and others with H7 bulbs. I would match what ever your drivers side one is. I.e if its got a H7 bulb in it then get a H7 passenger side light, as otherwise they my look slightly brighter/duller. Also some of the early ones did not have the vents on the back (the little rubber hose that's U shaped. This helps to stop them misting up, so if possible you want one with that. And i think that's pretty much all the options! lol

Also hope this will be of some use for Price guides:

Passenger side wing: £39.64
Front upper panel: £31.30
Bonnet: £96.30
Front bumper £56.65
Front Cross member £27.58

Hope that helps,
Alan

Hi mate,

I haven't used them, but the prices are around what you'd expect to pay from a motor factor. With regards to the painting thing, with modern paints its very hard to get a good colour match without having the car in front of you, so i'd be a bit concerned that they may not match very well. IMHO the best way to repair a car in your situation is to do all of the repair work yourself and then once its all fitted and back together and lined up, take it down a local decent body shop and get them to paint it all in one go. That way your guaranteed that all the panels are going to match your car, and you dont have to worry about your new shiny paint getting damaged by the courier or something lol.

Cheers,
Alan

Cheers mate, think I'll do that. (y)

They say they do next day delivery, so if I order on Monday I should have them on Tuesday.

Plus if I phone Fiat on Monday for the relays hopefully they will have them on Tuesday so I might have the car back on the road by Wednesday. :slayer:

Done the exact same thing this time last year, my fuse box was fine cos i hit the other side,apart from that i had the same as your car replaced and both headlamps, it cost me just over £1200.

might be worth getting the front all meausred because it might have a slight twist on it so when you fit the new parts they wont frit properly because the car might be out of alignment on the front. (y)

Did you do any of the work yourself or did you get it all done by a bodyshop using brand new parts?

Will any bodyshop be able to do that? :confused:

Hi,just had a quick look at your pics quite a high up inpact so wouldnt need jigging i would buy 2 hinges for the bonnet thought as thats taken a good hit they would be a nightmare to line up your new panels if you do it all yourself.

Hello again mate,

When you take the bumper off, unless there is any deformation to the front cross member or the chassis leg, i wouldn't worry about getting the car put on a jig. From the photos it looks like what ever you hit had a high back and as such has gone up your bonnet and along the wing if that makes sense. But really you need to remove the bumper before you can make that call properly. However, if you do need to have it put on a jig, most decent body shops will be able to do it for you. You can do some rough measurement of your own simply with a tape measure which would highlight anything major.

The quote of £1200 I hope would have been for it to be repaired at a body shop and not by himself, but will just have to wait and see on that one.

Oh and Herbert's suggestion of some new bonnet hinges is a good one, as they probably have taken some force during the impact.

I think you've been "lucky" (and i use that word loosely as obv you've been unlucky to hit something) and the bodywork has taken most of the impact and crumpled, making it look much worse than it is. Like i say, if you had hit them square on and taken out rad/condenser/inter cooler/fan etc, you'd be looking at about £800 on top of everything else!

Good luck,
Alan

Nope all done by bodyshop.
the best in my area, they done a great job
