hello all

i gotta get sum welding done ot the lower seatbelt anchorage point on the punto

all the carpet from the interior has to come up and atleast the drivers seat will need to be remoced

does any1 have any rough estimates on how much this might cost me

its not a big hole at all, just wants everything taking out before its done

thanks

simple solution for this would be to go to the bodyshop of your choice and say excuse me can you give me a quote for plating over this hole ..job done and if its to expensive drive to another one untill your happy with the price your given :)

a small patch starts from £30+ it wont take long to remove the parts you mention, just depends where you go, dont you know a friend in the trade who could reccomend someone, visit a few local garages, and get a fixed price. Ant!

its easy to do mate nip too b and q buy a cheap mig set (under £100 ) go to scrappy and see if you can get an old bit of car panel ### the most important thing in the world is too disconect the batery ###clean every where up sand paper will do but grinder better some 1.2mm flux core wire will be fine cut a bit of panel too cover the hole 1" - 1"1/2 past the hole all way round ... get urself a ball hammer tack on corner wand work round with the ball hammer tacking every 10mm or so till its tight all way round once fully tacked weld away its under carpet so dont worry about the looks of the weld make sure u have a fire defending device pint of water will do it will mostly be underseal on fire any ways once finished allow too cool and re-underseal the area under the car you have just welded

Well ECU and radio should really be removed, as they dont really like 25A+ being fed through the ground plane!

FYI Im doing exactly this atm for my black Cinq, and for 1.1mm plate (cars are typically 0.7-1.2mm sheet), Im finding 25A is too low, whilst 40A should be alright providing gas is set correctly (if youre using a gas MIG set).

just the battery will be fine both poles though !!!!!

i welded a new boot floor and rear floor pan 3 1/4 panel and boot slam panel was at it for a few days just with battery disconnected and every thing was fine was using a 60A weld set too

make sure u have a fire defending device pint of water will do

Never was a true word spoken If you can dont do it in the garage and a mate standing over you with a bucket of water and a squeezy bottle / super soaker (how will you pour water onto the bottom of the car :p )

to cut a long story short i managed to set light to the garage a few months back (welding some gate keeps of all things) and set light to a tarp and a few rags fortunately LIDL had 6kg Industrial size extinguishers on offer for £15 they are close to £70 in ARCO! and lets just say they work really well :D this coming from a chap who has a NEBOSH :chin: best £15 i have spent in the past year

I bought an exhaust a while back from a guy who had just bought an uno turbo and started a little diy welding, only the exhaust was saved! he even shown me pics of his garage that burnt down, and was disapointed i didnt turn up in the U.T and gave him a tenner (ebay) for the pipe! anyway a lot of people are not mechanicaly minded and if you've never seen or helped anyone welding then i'd pay the £30 EASY! not only bodyshops do welding (a lot wouldnt want to know) every garage has a mig so shop about. only the earth lead has to be removed for welding but i use a surge protector which clips onto the battery termials, when using a 18K caroliner welder at work, last week i replaced a quarter panel on a toyota prius YEEUKK! and had to disable the 5k Gel battery pack before any welding or me and the car would have gone up! Ant!
