Hi all, I have read a number of threads on this forum and none address the particular problem i have encountered.

It started when i replaced the head unit so i could stream music via bluetooth, B&M doesnt support this in my 500. So, i purchased an nice Sony HU, got the wiring adapters for the steering wheel and fascia adapter - i took out the old HU and fitted the new, however my door speakers no longer work, the pillar mounted tweeters work fine as do the rear panel speakers.
So after much frustration and removing re-fitting the stereo i am wondering if the B&M system somehow interferes with the door speakers. Now, i did refit the original HU and the door speakers dont work with that now, so i am second guessing myself - did they work in the first place? Car is a 2008 500 sport, i had it a day before i whipped out the HU, i remember on the test drive i turned on the stereo and it was on full volume so i turned it off straight away, maybe did it blow the two front speakers at the same time, unlikely i think but also unlikely is that both speakers are not working at the same time - i thought i could hear a faint noise coming from them but wondering if its an echo travelling through the body from the tweeters. Seriously, this is driving me nuts! Now i am wondering if there are actually any speakers in the door, i havent removed the panel yet - waiting on a new set of speakers to do it all in one - D day will be when they arrive, if still no sound, then i assume a hard wire to the new HU will cure my problem, but will i lose the pillar tweeters? Sounds very trivial i know but its a puzzling one. Any experiences of the same or a clue would be much appreciated.

thanks all

Scott

Nope the B&M system you have no impact on the speakers working or not, more than likely there is a wiring problem, maybe a bad connection on the wiring plug at the back of the radio or with your adaptor you fitted hence the problem with the m now working.
That’s assuming they were working before.

It’s a real possibility they never worked and they might not be there, just to have a look to see what’s there to start with. Then you can connect a meter between the speaker and back of the radio to see if the connection is all ok
