I want to be able to use my iPhone by plugging it into the USB port. When I do, the Fiat plays stuff randomly and nothing will convince it to do otherwise. I could use the AUX port and Siri but sometimes I want to top off the charge etc.

Not interested in using Blue and Me - silliest thing ever if you have Siri. I'd rather have to choose the playlists etc myself.

Am I missing something about using the USB port? I don't think it should be that hard to use it without losing control over what's playing.

My dealer assures me there's no software update. I hope there's a reasonable solution to this.

I'm not sure about siri, but when plugged in via USB my car started playing random things from my ipod, there is a setting within the menu to turn off both autoplay and random shuffle. Maybe those options will help?

If you want to charge your iphone but don't want to connect it to the B&Me then you would be better off using a standard iphone car charger.

i have recently tried my iphone 4s in usb on car and found same problem.
to get round it i made a playlist of favourite songs from albums on phone and
now use this when in car.
as for phone calls i have never really been one for using one in the car anyway.

I guess my question is why the car has to take over my mobile device just because it's plugged into USB. Seems like it should just recognize it as a possible media source and let me choose what to play, with or without Siri.

How are you playing the playlists via aux (3.5mm) or usb ?

On a long trip using ipad/iphone the only way to control music was via the aux port, the sound is not great but as you say via usb the car takes over the phone. I think playlists are the answer, i havne't looked inot it but if you can direct b&m to a CAR PLAYLIST then it should work but I am sure it will be limited to next, shuffle etc

Yes that's my experience. I don't notice a huge difference in quality via AUX but I would just like to take advantage of the USB. There's no advantage to me to have to plow through all the next, next, next bit with B&M if my phone makes it so much easier to control what's playing. I'm also thinking that if the screen of the phone is taken over by the car, I'd have problems answering the phone if it rings!
