Sorry if I've missed another thread - you can't search on "5.6".

I've just noticed on blueandme.net that B&M version 5.6 is out.
As with 5.5 it's not a recommended update if 5.5 works ok with your phone, but I've just run it anyway on my GP.

The update is as clunky as the 5.5 version was, but after a few restarts it seems to have installed ok and my phone still works.
Not honestly sure what it adds, but it's the latest version... :)

I tried to install on my 2011 500 TA (which is on 5.5 - according to the chassis number), but get 'CONFIG. ERROR' - tried a couple of memory sticks with no joy.

I even tried disconnecting the battery neg. lead for a few mins, and there was no improvement. Anyone else had this, and got over it? (probably not with 5.6, but with 5.5 perhaps?)

Annoyed! Even if it doesn't do much, it's always nice to have the latest version!

Hmm mine (5.5 I think?) is working fine so I dont think im even gonna bother try updating it!!

The one major difference I noticed is that the system is much more responsive. So it's worth upgrading.

Hi,

I'm also getting an error with the conf. when trying to upgrade to 5.6. Anyone have a fix yet? I tried updating only 5.5 and got the same error. Updated the language files only which succeeded but I still cannot upgrade to 5.6.

Can someone remind me of how i do a upgrade, i know i need to download onto memory stick but i have forgotton what to do after i have pluged usb into car!
thanks

Download the 5.6 update zip file for your car and open it.

One of the files inside is called "_Instructions - BlueMe 5.6_EN.pdf"

That file is the full instructions for doing the update :)

Short of phoning the local stealers to see what version was on the car when it was built, I don't know if you can - there's no obvious menu for it.

Probably easiest to try the 5.5 upgrade and see if it works. If it does, then install 5.6 :)

I was discussing this in the Fiat dealers today, the mechanic could not tell me how to tell what version I have however did say that if installing this borked the computer then it would need a new one and its not under warranty.

Although its only a computer, don't they have the ability to reload the software on them?

ditto.
As much as being more responsive to sw controls is good - what are the real benefits of this?

Usually when new software is released there is at least something to explain why/what for.
I wonder if the dealers get a tech sheet on it?

I have the same problem whereby the Config Error keeps appearing. I've tried resetting the system and clearing the user data, also tried disconnecting the battery, but this doesn't seem to help.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Luke

Has it shown to be of any more benefit yet?

When you say more responsive, does this mean that when you hit a SW button, it actions it rather than the current hit a button and nothing happens, then several seconds later the display changes?

Let me answer this myself.

I upgraded to 5.5 last night - not a lot of difference so this morning I went to 5.6.

All went well, took a while though and the result - a slight improvement on how responsive the SW buttons can be, however it still drops out of the menu's still seems to be rather erratic in its actions.

I'll see if it actually makes any difference to anything else on the drive to work in the morning.

Hello Peeps,

I upgraded to 5.6 last night - shock horror! the upgrade went absolutely fine.

But having tested my iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1) this morning, I no longer get the charging bleep when you plug into the iPhone cable and it can't find the bloody music now!!!

I'm so sick of this B&M b*ll*cks I really am... especially when it says on the B&M website and I quote word for word:

If your Blue&Me works with the telephones you’ve connected to it and you don’t need to listen to music saved on an iPod or iPhone, we recommend that you don’t go ahead with the software update.

This implies that if you DO need to listen to the music on your iphone then go ahead with the upgrade, does it not?

I'll let you know if I get any joy from this new software update.

This appears to make sod all difference to how carp B&M is.

Steering wheel controls work, then they don't, then they do then they stop working all together.

I think I will just use the radio buttons for it from now on :(
