Hello

Upon first use of B&M I was unable to get it talk to me. (Should I be offended?) I guessed once he/her got to know me, they would respond.

Still waiting.

The big problem I think, is the car doesn't respond audiably. When receiving a call (via iPhone) the dash shows the caller, but I can't hear it. If listening to the radio, I can press the Windows key and say "cancel" and it goes straight back to the radio, also I can say "dial 07952..." etc, and it works. So the mic is working.

The problem is, it doesn't replay. Even pressing the Windows key and saying "help"/"menu", the stereo goes back to the radio. Shouldn't it atleast attempt to reply, even if mute (i.e. speaker failure).

The rest of the car/stereo works fine. What am I missing?

Also, in the Media Player, I can see the tracks on my dash, but how can I play them? Where is the play button? Saying "Play" doesn't work.

Ignorant car. (Bravo Dynamic 2008)

P.S. PHONE set to volume 3.

NOTE: After further reading, there is no "tone" after pressing the Windows button.

Have you tried setting the 'Speech Volume' in the radio menu? You do have to fiddle with it a bit to find it, sometimes you need to be in radio mode for it to show up, and I can't remember whether it's in the audio menu or the menu menu...!

B&M Media Player & Voice Control

Hello,
I have exactly the same problem with not hearing the voice. Also I can see the media track playing on the dash display but am not able to hear it.
Did you resolve this problem? Any advice please?
Thanks.

Re: B&M Media Player & Voice Control

Hi Summertime
I never did find out what the problem was. Never got round to it. I'll tell you were I'm at with this problem:
- Garage unable to remove stereo. They had wrong keys, so could be that or they've damaged the clip.
- Under the passenger seat was an iPhone cable, but iPhone does detect it (so no connected).
- In the boot was an earth cable. So previous owner had a different head unit to power sub.
- B&M is a seperate convergence unit. Not built into the stereo.
- I've updated the B&M firmware and language via USB. Theads on the forum suggest incorrectly updating could damage the B&M. As it wasn't working before, there is no assumption that it successfully updated, or damaged the convergence unit further.

I don't know how the convergence unit connects to the stereo, because the drivers panel (clocks) detects the convergence unit, as does the steering wheel and stereo, and bluetooth works. However the only problem is there is no sound, so unless the stereo has a seperate audio input (i.e. sound) from the data interface (i.e. the "voice", "media player" GUI), then the B&M system will never function for me.

My best hope is that when the previous owner reinstated the original stereo, they forgot to connect the convergence unit, OR some kind of handsfree device is connected where the convergence unit sound input should be.

Can you tell me where your up to, and every thing you've tried? If we can trade info, we may better understand the fault.

Re: B&M Media Player & Voice Control

Hi, Thanks for your reply.
It would appear that the previous owner of my car had an aftermarket cd/usb player fitted and then replaced original on sale.
Have downloaded both of the new versions of Blue & Me software and supposedly updated successfully - that is according to the message on the dash.
Have tried disconnecting battery for 30 minutes. Have also tried different devices in the USB port eg ipod, different USB sticks. Still no sound.
Next step will be to get keys to remove factory supplied radio to check if all connected correctly. Will let you know how we get on..........!
After that, if not successful will be buying an aftermarket stero with USB port and forgetting about it!

Success!!! :)
Bought keys to remove radio for £1.10. It is tricky and takes a lot of jiggling to get CD/Stereo out, but once removed, discovered that the computer connection, coloured blue and yellow, was disconnected and hanging beneath the ventilation controls. When reconnected the voice immediately spoke. CD/Stereo replaced and now all working fine.
Hope this helps. (y)

Hi Summertime, sorry for the delay.
I too managed to sort the problem a couple of weeks ago. I had to fabricate 2 stereo removal tools. Both the left and right stereo retaining clips had broken. After 2 hrs of me and my father 'jiggling' with the stereo, we managed to remove it. Interestingly, when we removed the gear gator we found a third retaining clip, meaning at some point, they had already replaced the clips once.
After trailing all the third party wires out of the back of the dash, we found a lonely B&M cable not connected. As soon as I plugged it in, walla, sound.
For the record, I'm not happy about the retaining clips. It seems there are too many owners with this problem. My advise, be really careful removing the stereo, and only do it when necessary.
