Is there anyway to bypass Blue and Me and use iPhone Voice Control or Siri using the driving wheel button?

My problem is that I want to start Siri without having to hold the iPhone Home button, so I don't need to take it out of my pocket :)

That is a great question! I'm currently searching for a new car and the Fiat 500 is the best contender. The only thing that has me with a little doubt is Blue and me. You se, Im very tech savvy and a little geeky, and I definetly would like to have this type of feature in my car. No offense to Blue And Me users, but I would rather leave that feature to a company that leads in that area.

I have read mixed reviews about blue and me, and I really like siri.

Any update in this topic will be greatly appreciated and taken into consideration for my choice of buying a new car.

(ps. I know Siri won't be on the car market for at least some 6 months from now, but I hear that the Windows system on the 500 is updateable?)

Blue & Me was developed by a little software company that you might not have heard of.. they're called Microsoft.

I had B&M pretty much from it's launch with the Bravo. Unlike some fruity equipment... it just worked, and of course is compatible with a massive number of phones.

Oh, THAT Microsoft.

Apple: iPod – Microsoft: Zune
Apple: iPhone – Microsoft: Kin
Apple: iPad – Microsoft: not yet shipping

It works for me, too, until the ambient noise reaches a certain level. The iPhone 4s has a dedicated microphone that’s being used to cancel out noise. Clever, ey?

So you found it difficult getting an Apple product to work? Please elaborate. :)

iPad connecting via an apple connector cable to a large TFT screen. It's owner; who had been giving the usual fanboy comments about how it is better than android just the previous day; connected it up, and it displayed the screen upside down or 90 degrees to the orientation of the pad - but not the correct way.

As for the implementation in a car - I'd rather see Fiat provide a solution that works with the majority of phones and smart phones, than a system which only works with the minority market segment occupied by the iproducts. They need to stick to standards, not the proprietary communication protocols used by Apple.

Apple: iPhone – Microsoft: Kin - How about Windows Phone 7.5 as used on the Lumia 800/900? One of the slickest phone OSs I've ever used. Very user-orientated. More intuitive than iOS. A real delight to use. Looks great too.

Hmmmm...

Puts down competing products and the "fanboys", then spends a paragraph telling how great product X is....

That is typical fanboy behaviour. :D

I think you will find a fanboy will own the device, and won't buy anything but.

I don't have a windows phone, and am quite happy with my Galaxy S2, but can't deny the WP7 on the Lumia is an excellent phone, and demonstrates the invalid argument that Microsoft don't understand mobile technology.

A fair point!

It takes time to gain or lose a reputation. After a shocking bad run it will take time and a at least a couple of good products before the masses will stop laughing and consider a Windows Phone.
WP7 was a good start (y)
Not giving WP7 users an upgrade path to WP8 is bad (n)

I will NEVER forgive them for the ribbon in Office 2010 ;)

Er... They're both gadget type sites - and not a single quote from a microsoft email, blog posting, or even a transcript of a MS guy saying it won't upgrade. Both sites just write that MS said it wont, and to take their word for it.

I'd like to see some evidence either way.

Some people still like to be able to see evidence and come to a conclusion of facts themselves. Others just get spoon fed info and don't question if it's true or not.

Don't think you are going to see a big MS announcement that they are leaving early adopters out in the cold. It's not a big selling point, I would expect them to stay quiet.

I don't expect a big annoucement, but at least something official. Someone, somewhere must have asked a MS guy on camera if this will upgrade.

Perhaps the rumours are true. But in the world of smart phones, you'd be pretty stupid to believe all the rumours!

Terry Myerson announced it at the Windows Phone Summit on June 20. The articles I’ve linked to referred to this.
