Help with new Blue&Me USB Port - Not working!!

Hi,

We picked up our new Fiat 500 Twinair with Blue & Me last Thursday

All good apart from the USB port!!

The Bluetooth functions work well, can pair iPhone 4 and make phone calls

But when plugging the phone into the USB port using a normal cable, nothing

I have tried loads of things from these forums and now suspect it is the port that is at fault

I have tried formatting a USB stick as FAT32 and loading some MP3s onto it as a last resort, but the car still says "No usb device found".

My understanding is that if you plug in an iPhone it should charge the phone when the ignition key is turned to MAR?

Any help much appreciated - before I book it in at Fiat

First of, congrats to your 500! As far as I know iPhone cannot be charged via Blue&Me USB port (others phone, like Windows Phone and Android can be charged). Probably the iPhone needs more juice for charging. As of the USB port not working. I guess it's not connecting correctly, or there is a loose wire. Take it to the workshop. They should fix it in 5 min. But before that, you can also try to reset the system by disconnecting the negative terminal of the car main battery for about 5 minutes. Maybe that wakes up the sleepy USB port.

Many thanks, i've booked it in at the Fiat dealer tomorrow, so fingers crossed they will get it working!

The salesman reckoned it did charge the iphone 4 on the latest firmware - of course that could be a total lie! But at least if it will play from a USB stick I will be happier.

All sorted - it seems all they have done is disconnect the battery and reconnect it - but makes sense for the dealer to do that whilst it is under warranty !!

Will test out charging my iphone in a bit!

you will know if its going to work, theres a little USB icon on the slot itself, this lights up if the car has picked up what ever you plug in ....it glows orange same as interior lights so you might not notice it, its a bit easier to see in my bravo
