Blue&Me iphone adapter redundant?

Would disc acces to your iPod also be disabled when you use this adapter? I'm asking because ecoDrive writes its data to an USB disk device. Can ecoDrive still write to your iPod (Classic) when you use this adapter?

Also, can someone with an adapter please comment in this thread on how the device works: https://www.fiatforum.com/blue-me/244334-blue-me-ipod-adapter-shuffle-playlist-functionality.html

Just got my fiat 500 the other day and the new fiat 500 2012 does not require a blue&me adapter. You just have to plug it in the usb socket.

Hope this is handy

If the car has the newer black B&M port on it (most models have the 3.5mm Aux-In Jack Plug), then it will have the inbuilt Transcoding hardware, if not and it has the older style silver socket with the coloured Windows logo, you will need the adaptor.

This also applies to other new models - Qubo is the exception as they have a unique B&M port, and I haven't tried one yet.

Correct.

Not necessarily. My Fiat 500 has the old style panel and doesn’t need the adapter. If your car was built in 2010 you can’t go by looks, you need to check the VIN:

Owww..... I don't get this at all. My 500 is from 2010 and neither my iPod touch or iPhone 4s works. I can't play my music and it really annoys me. My brothers iPod nano works, but of course I don't want to use his.... AND; is it even possible to use Spotify from the iPhone? And what, exactly, am I supposed to do to make my iPhone work with B&M?

It's pretty easy..... if you have the old style port which is just a USB port then you need the adaptor, if you have the new style port which has a 3.5mm jack then you don't need the adaptor, but then again you'd know this if you took the time to read this thread.

Sorry, I did read the thread, and a lot of others. My english is just not good enough, and I didn't understand everything that is written here.
Thank you :)

I'm having the same problem with my iphone 5.
I can link my phone to blue and me via bluetooth and make calls/read texts, etc... but i can't listen to media player.
My Fiat 500 Lounge (09) recognises my phone when i plug it in by making the connected noise but then it seems to lose connection and i cant use it plugged in.
Do i need to buy the Blue and me adapter? just checking before i spend £70 - are they compatable with iphone 5?:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

I would say that looking at the year of your car 09 then you probably do need to buy the adapter. It seems the changeover happened sometime in 2010. Not sure if its compatible with the iPhone 5 as I don't have one. I got so fed up with Blue&Me that I've now fitted a JVC head unit into my 2010 Lounge. Works much better and has A2DP music streaming too :)
Regards, Esscon
