Hi all

Today I decided to update to 5.4 and make use of eco drive and eventually invest in an ipod adapter.

Bad Idea.......One of my main motos in life is if it aint broke don't try and fix it!!

Anyhow I downloaded the update followed the instructions as per Fiat it installed it restarted then installed it again then restarted ... Strange I thought!!

At this point it just sat there and I watched it for ages before I came to the conclusion it wasnt going to do anymore as it was sat playing the radio and showing the date.

So switched off the car unplugged the usb stick switched back on and no Blue&Me!! Tried a my ussual usb stick I'd been using with music on nothing! tried bluetooth nothing no steering wheel controls for Blue & Me just volume and tune for radio!!

Not good looked at the log on the usb stick said:-

D6047C11

This must mean something to someone but not me !

Tried switching the car off and back on same again but got flashing mileage so googled this and there are alot of posts on 'proxy alignment' which considering mines 2006 is going to cost me money :(

Next was to take off the negative battery terminal as some people suggest for 30 mins, so I did this for 35mins to be sure....result no difference apart from having to reset the date and time and still flashing mileage :( Tried the usb stick to see if it would re install no joy!!

The only thing that struck me was that initially whilst watching the update the fact that it did it restarted then did it again and nowhere in the instructions by Fiat does it tell you it does this twice so I thought I wonder if the Usb stick's dodgy??

So back to the pc extracted the files to a new clean working usb stick and back to the car plugged it in and back to installing we were which happened this time really quick and restarted. Next I saw o2 and iphone on the dash and pressed the voice button and the lady from fiat spoke!!!! yippe we were back in business but still flashing mileage....Left the car for 30 mins went back started the car and no flashing mileage and everything working!!

Have done 3 more start stop trips and no flashing mileage and everything working am well chuffed as I could imagine a trip to Fiat stealer and a huge bill for new ECU's and me with no foot to stand on to prove that the car needed them or not!!

That is the only problem with this tech and stealers they could easily rip you off for new ecu's etc and you would never know!!

Sorry it's a bit long winded and a bit here and there but I wanted to share my experience with you all and maybe just maybe save someone else a few pennies!!

Im now off to look for a warranty that would cover this Blue & Me system!!

No worries....did'nt make myself clear as I was trying to type everything I'd done from memory lol

It seemed to install and restart twice then just sat playing the radio .... i.e. radio 2 came up in the display on the stereo and between the dials.

Reflecting I think it tried to install twice but failed due to a faulty usb stick and then exited back to the tuner but left the blue&me system screwed up. Im surprised I got it working again and trust me I'm not bothering with the eco drive !! Hopefully 5.4 IS on there now and I can get the ipod adapter and be a happy bunny with trouble free Blue&Me!!
