Hi all

We have a 500c on order that we are picking up on Friday. I asked the salesman about the ipod connector kit today when signing some paperwork which he said he would throw in for free and told me I could have it now and went to get it. He came back with a cable which looks to me like just a retractable ipod cable with an ipod connector one side and a USB connector the other. He gave it to me but I'm confused as after looking online it appears that this is just an ipod cable and the ipod connection kit is something different that costs £70.

Can anyone clarify this for me? Will the cable he gave me allow me to play music from my iphone when I get the car or do I need a kit? If so, what is this kit and how does it work?

Many Thanks

I am also confused by this, I have an iphone adapter with USB port, will that work just the same?

Also I know it will only work if you have 5.4 upgrade how do I check I have this, sorry I know I should read all the books but only got the car yesterday and was hoping someone might have a quick answer :)

Just to update...

Needed the actual ipod connection kit (a small USB dongle) to play my tunes from my iphone. This means that you don't have to convert all files to mp3. Just plug and play!

Worth £79 but dealer was doing them for cost price which was £40.

Had mine thrown in though!

Basically it seems that any ipod with mp3 tracks should work fine without the connector kit. Any ipod Touch or iPhone needs the ipod connector kit (dongle thing) to play the tracks regardless if they are mp3 or apple AAC copy protected (iTunes bought) tracks.

Thats how its worked for me anyway. Just happy I can listen to my tunes!
