Hi - having a nightmare!!
Ordered new fiat 500 (can't wait!) and I wanted the whole package - i.e. blue&me so I could use it for my phone, ipod and sat nav etc...

My dealer said that I was better of getting an a-z rather than the fiat 500 tomtom!!

I've never had a sat nav before so I'm not sure how the maps would look when he said that they were really old looking and not great at all.

A part of me was thinking sod it, get that as well, but then I don't want to waste my money if it's crap....SO:
- what other sat navs work in the blue&me dock (is it just tomtoms or do other ones fit in there also?)
- i know they cant operate with the steering wheel but do they charge through the dock?
- and will they block out my music when it tells me an instruction?

I really like the Tomtom Start (in white to match my new interior) - could this work?

what would every one recommend? Sorry to ask so many questions but I don't want to waste money on something I'm going to hate!!

Thanks, please get back asap!!

Becci

Hi

The new TomTom as far as im aware only works with the Punto Evo at the moment. You need Blue&Me Nav, which are available on eBay for a lot less than the dealers are asking if your curious. Im currently selling one ;)

The unit isnt bad as such, it works and has always got us from A to B. But the dealer is right, it is looking its age now :)

Hi Adam,
Thanks for the reply

I wonder why has my dealre mentioned that to me? Prob meant the Blue & Me Nav...nice to hear you're selling one ;) ...!
However if it's honestly really not that great, I'd prefer to get one I like...do you know if any other ones fit in there at all? i don't mind that it wont operate through the wheel, can do on screen.....but want to know if they will charge when they are in the dock, and if they will interupt my music to allow for directions?
Do you know anything about this?

Thanks!

No problem, I dont think there are any other sat navs out there that are currently compatible with the dock and the bluetooth connectivity on the Fiats, hence why Fiat are marketing their own systems. I believe the dock is specific to Blue&Me Nav, so no other units will sit in the dock correctly, as the connector is specific.

I actually bought it as an experiment to try it on the Grande Punto, but have had no luck with it as the Blue&Me systems are different between the GP and the 500 :(

Thanks matey - think I'm going to get your one then! I see no one has made a bid yet....how about I give you £50 for it? ;)

now that is service !!
better not be a heap of crap...:)
did you know that the software isn't even up to date re using the thing through the wheel etc, you can't even connect it to bluetooth yet......it seems so silly that they have gone to the effort of getting this technology, but can't use it properly!?
ok going go eeb now.

I think it should work well with the 500, just on a side note, it doesnt have the dock adapter with it as it was designed for cars without the dock. Im not sure where you would get that by itself or if it comes with the car, but it will work nicely with B&M and attaches to the windscreen with the supplied suction cup :)

oh that's fine if I have the hole in the dash for it. have bought it now so should all go through! just to clairfy though, it doesnt work with the B&M yet does it - they said that technology doesnt exist....and I have to wait for update to find out when that will work, at the moment they said it just works as a stand alone satnav...?
thanks for you help anyway!:p

thanks ever so much.
I get it mid march so I've some time to learn how to use it properly.....can't wait to get my little car!! did you ever have the 500 or just the Punto?

thanks ever so much.

Haha! It will work as a standalone sat nav so you can use it in any car :) If you drop me a PM on here once you get your car, Il give you some help on the installation.

Ive had three Fiats actually, a Punto mk2, a Stilo and the Grande Punto. Never had the 500, a bit "feminine" for me. But my other half is desperate for one once she passes her test!! Having said that, the Abarth version looks :yum:

Ha why is it that all the men want the abarth kit?! I had exactly that my end -too LOL!
My first car I had was the Fiat seicento abarth thingy. loved it....well, actually I learnt to drive in a power steering car and when my dad came to give it to me and told me to drive home I cried because I wasn't strong enough to turn it properly  but I got used to it and built up my arms! I sold it last year to my good friend actually so I still see it every now and then! ahh nostalga. guessing you love fiats at the mo huh! I just need to sell my car now, I have a convertible black KA with cream mleather bits, I love, soooo girly but it's a gas gusler, only 1.6 but drinks petrol! and tax expensive so def time for swapsies!
...what's a PM? I only started using this today so I have no clue all the techi terms ;)

No problem :) its a Private Message, if you click on my user name at the side of my post itl give you the option to send me a message. If you do that when you get your car, I can help you sort it out.

I forgot to say welcome  This forum has loads of great information on it, loads of help if you ever have any trouble. I guess you might have already explored the 500 section. We also have regular meets and shows in different locations in the UK, we attend the AutoItalia events which is just a massive show for Italian cars. Would be great to see more people at these (y)

Not just a forum then huh!
Great well thanks ever so much for your help, I'll let you know when I get my lovely 500! I'll let you know when I get the dreaded bloody sat nav in the post, thanks again for that!
Have a lovely evening!

Just got a new fiat 500 with Blue&me live

got the best price we could + made give sat nav and dock for free

so we save £1500 of the £11800 list price which was the best we could get after playing 5 dealers off against each other
