Found out what it was guys would you believe the protective plastic on the screen still doesn’t read the messages though any tips to enable this function

Have you got the message reader installed?, as this was an update on early Blue&Me systems.

Had similar problems with a pair of W595s in a pair of Bravos. Both didn't work - one with the screen protector and one without so in my case, its a red herring I think.

Let me know how you proceed though.

Re: Sony Ericsson c905

Hi guys,

I just upgraded to a Sony Ericsson c905 this weekend and while the message reader works a treat :) , the sound quality on a call is shocking.

I've tried pairing my new c905 with a normal bluetooth headset and that works fine, nice and clear audio, so it must be an incompatibility with the blue&me system rather than a general phone fault.

The phonebook also failed to transfer, and sometimes the blue&me will say its disconnected while the c905 will say its still connected. In this scenario, any incoming calls are redirected to the blue&me, but because the blue&me thinks its disconnected I don't hear anything. This can also cause the phone to slow right down (like a 10 second delay to open a menu), or worse has caused it crash completely as well.

I hope theres a solution out there... I don't want to have to give up my nice new shiny c905 :-(

Anyone got any ideas?

Tom.

The problem definitely seems to be spreading. Its a shame because SE's are the most compatible phones but they're now fast becoming quite incompatible. The W595 behaves the same so I had to rush out and buy a pair of cheap PAYG handsets (K530s) which work fine (as did our previous K800 and Z610).

I'm tempted to hold on to the W595's just in case there's a Blue&Me update round the corner which fixes things.

I wondered if it might be an issue with the modern SE phones having stereo bluetooth capability? Could the phones be 'emitting' stereo, but Blue&Me is only mono, so only catches every other packet, or something like that? I can't see any settings on my C905 to confirm whether its mono or stereo though...

Re: Sony ericsson 905 & 902

Hi Guys

Its a software update issue with these phones the early 902's works fine and if you have a C 902 working well, for gods sake don't try to upgrade it from the sony Erickson site this will put the latest software version on your phone making a huge distortion noise (rather like some one keying an old fashioned type writer) best way I can describe it.
Ps my C905 went back due to this plus connection issues Sorry for the bad news guys

PPS spoke to Fiat UK today no Blue & Me updates available yet guys I did state this needs addressing so we don't have to use outdated mobiles

Regards Kelvin

Thanks for the update Kelvin. Your description of the noise is fairly accurate and not dissimilar to someone banging around in a tin can. For us, the Z610 and K800 worked perfectly. K530 works well but there is some slight interference. The W595's we have behave in the same way as the later 902 and the 905. Strange in that the W595 paired OK, address book transferred fine and the message reader even worked perfectly. Just the bloody voice didn't work!

I'd rather not sell the W595's if there is an update which will solve the problem (I figured that £50 for a pay as you go handset is a small percentage of a car with a list price not shy of £17k!). Lucky for you you could return your handset - we had no such luck and as you've read, had to buy PAYG handsets.

Let's hope Fiat come up with something soon.

Cheers,
Mike

Yeah lets hope so!

Does anyone know how we can bring this issue to Fiat's attention? From my experience all their garages are clueless about blue&me, the online chat thing on their website is manned by equally clueless people, and I haven't yet found a way of reporting blue&me bugs!

How can such a multi-national company release such a complex IT product in their cars and not offer any kind of support or any kind of feedback mechanism? Its crazy!

The eco-drive feature is nice, but I'm fairly sure we'd all prefer that their engineers spent the time releasing updates to keep up with modern handsets, rather than spend time with gimmicky applications like that! So frustrating! :bang:

Try erasing all the old blueme memory of all phone data... then try from scratch by pairing your phone again..
my 902 works fine and msg reader.. its worth trying it again if you haven`t already. (y)

How do I do this? Is there a menu option to erase all existing phone data?

I've cracked it! :D

I had a play around with it this morning.

First i deleted all user data from blue&me and deleted blue&me from my bluetooth devices on my C905. I then re-paired the two and made a call. It worked fine! Nice and clear. I then thought, great, now lets transfer the phone book, which I did successfully. I then made another call but now the quality was really poor.

So I deleted the phonebook from blue&me and made another call and the quality was fine again.

So in conclusion it looks like its having your phone book in blue&me that stuffs up the audio quality. Its a pain because u now need to initiate any calls from the handset instead of from the steering wheel controls, and any texts coming in only have the number and not the name, but at least its a fix for the time being.

Hopefully fiat will pull their finger out soon...

Hmmm, tried that with a W595 in a roundabout fashion. I paired the phone but didn't transfer the address book and still had call quality resembling a mechanical typewriter in a tin can.

Something strange is going on...

Hmmm...

I had to replace my C905 today (for a different fault altogether - the ear piece audio completely stopped. Calls could still be heard through the loudspeaker, but there was no sound audio from the ear piece - apparently quite a common fault, but anyway, thats not for here), so I had to pair my phone again.

I did the same as before, but this time it didn't work, the audio was 'tin-can' like again. So I did it all over again, clearing all data from blue&me, and this time it was fine. It seems to be really random. Try deleting and then re-pairing a few times... you never know, it might work lol

Works fine with the Mrs' Samsung and worked fine this morning so it's for sure the SE upgrade. Have emailed their support line for either a fix for this... or a method for downgrade to a working software release. Seems they've made a significant change to the bluetooth protocol. Sometimes I can't even get my phone to pair with the car. Others it connects but won't connect again. When it does connect it sounds like a keyboard being smashed about regardless if I copy the phonebook or not.
