this damn thing called "work" keeps me away from my 850!

Posted 06-11-2008 at 02:20 by jconfar

Been getting called into work alot lately... and it made me think, I definitely don't get paid enough!!! Anyway, all work has been suspended while I wait to trailer my parts car to my garage (the space hasn't even been cleared for it yet) so I can actually start tearing the parts car down and getting some stuff swapped around, like having a drivers side door always help when you wanna drive a car around town and not get pulled over!! Anyways, will post more pics of the sanding part of the...

been a cpl of days, found out some things (like that I can pick the front end up off the ground high enough to kick stands under it... ) found a buddy to donate his dryer to the cause of new pans (the metal is similar) and another buddy to lend me his welding stuff and an angle grinder so on to the major stuff!! now all I need is to get the rest of the paint/rust wire brushed, sanded off and get the puppy primed and with the new pans she'll be good to start in on the engine work!! Like most...

Didn't get much done today except a whole lot of rust removal. I have about 30% of the car sanded down to bare metal right now and I finished pulling the rest of the interior out, both seats (turns out the drivers seat rails are rusted thru... great ) and all the floor coverings are gonzo.
I still haven't found out where the oil filter is or if there even is one, and I found this odd little weber part that I can't seem to match anywhere so the hits just keep coming. Anyone out there...

Day #2 or "The rust! Where does it end?!"

Posted 25-10-2008 at 21:47 by jconfar

Oy, what a start to the morning... I found more rust!! This might wind up being my parts car if I can get the other one here sometime soon and check it's underbelly... I need some good news!! I went to AutoZone and picked up about $40 worth of stuff I'll need to get this project underway forreal, odds and bits like bondo and tape and scrapers and weather stripping and most importantly, PRIMER!!! lol, b/c what I don't need to see any more of is RUST!!! I headed into the garage first thing...

Well, here goes nothin'!

Posted 25-10-2008 at 07:56 by jconfar

So I found and then after much deliberation bought 2 1970 850 spiders from a local guy. I looked them over pretty good but didn't have a full toolbox to really get into them but the appeared to be in pretty good shape... Notice I said "appeared"? 1 was said to be driveable and the other pretty much straight parts car. The driveable one was not very driveable at all and needed a ton of work just to get it home and I actually got towed the last 8 miles to my garage. Now the fun begins.......
