Does anyone know if the gearing and final drive of the current 1108cc Panda 4x4 Trekking are different to the 999cc model? Has the mph per 1000rpm improved from the 16.2mph/1000 rpm of the original 4x4? If anyone has driven the current Trekking, I'd love to hear about it.

Wow, 'current model'!!

I couldn't find any literature on the diff ratios for the newer Pandas but the rear axle is only an inch wider than the beam axle and the mounting points will all fit on the original 4x4 floor space (with a little convincing). If the diff' from the original axle can be fitted to the new housing and the electronics bypassed to make it work independent rear suspension for the original Panda 4x4 is a weekends work.

I was looking at a complete rear subframe to make my drag racing Panda rear wheel drive but the chap selling it scrapped it instead.
