I have recently bought a Seicento Schumacher limited edition. I am very pleased with the car but it does not seem to idle very smoothly.
The bloke at the main dealers where I purchased the car said that this was perfectly normal. Is this right or is he spinning me a yarn.
Otherwise the car runs OK.

Yeah the Sei's do idle a bit rough as they idle around 800rpm

Yea mine does this, At traffic lights or when i stop you'll be sitting there and suddenly the revs drop for a split second then go back to normal, then if im still stood there maybe a minute later the same thing again. Is this really normal?

Also do you guys think getting a K&N will help with this problem? And is it worth getting.

I dont know the mileage of your sei but if it is low mileage then it might go quieter as the engine gets more run in!!

I wouldnt worry about it, and if it bothers you that much, turn yur radio up!!

I think most cinqs and sei's idle rough, but they are not supposed to, most problems with idle speed relate to a dirty idle speed control valve, this is located on the throttle body on spi cinq's and sei's, what happens is oil mist from the engines oil breather system sticks to the face of the valve and causes it to idle roughly or vary between fast and slow idle, it can be cleaned by removing the valve(2 screws and elec plug) and cleaning the cone at the end of the valve and the recess in the throttle body with spray choke and carb cleaner, you may also need to reset the ecu for it to re-learn its optimum settings with a clean idle control valve. All modern petrol engined cars suffer from this problem.......
If you've just bought the car then take it back to the dealer and explain the problem you have found with the car, it will be covered by the warranty..

My two FIRE Centos did/do it. The only thing I have found which combats/reduces it is improved airflow (e.g. performance exhaust and air filters).

my cento doesnt do it a lot, usually only when it is cold... ones it warms up it idles perfectly at 900-1000 rpm
