Tuning Hike in power

Angel Tuning did a re-map for me, and installed a CDA. I've since installed a KAT back replacement too. I haven't put it on a rolling road but I did notice the improved torque. My wife described it as the car having had a cold before and it now being cured.

I know this isn't really scientific as I haven't put it on a rolling road, but I think the original question was about options, so there's one!

The point about the cheap pipes is a good one as the air at the edges will be going slower anyway.

The other point of course is to make sure your picking up cold air!

One more thing, when I had the CDA fitted we chucked out loads of excess pipes and plastic molding so I got a weight saving too :) Seriously, has anyone found a way to save weight? The only big difference I noticed was changing the exhaust.

Cheers,

Matt.

The first thing to do is get rid of the spare wheel and tools, they weigh about 12 kilos. Use a can of tyre-weld and join the AA! hehe.

Light-weight wheels not just pretty ones :) The Japanese use magnesium in many of their wheels which is much lighter but is also damn expensive. There are plenty of conventional alloy light wheels around such as OZ.

The resonator boxes under the bonnet should be thrown away when you upgrade the induction.

The seats weigh a ton as well, get some race seats. These can cost a fortune especially the carbon fibre ones i want!! Race seats in a B may look a bit odd tho, not really in keeping with what a B is about.

This may sound daft but dont fill her up! When i go for a blast i only fill half the tank. Trust me 40-50 litres of fuel weighs a lot.

The exhaust as previously mentioned can save a fair bit of weight as well.

Dont eat double fish and chips before you go for a drive, go to the toilet...ahem:eek: .....oh, and ditch the wife/girlfriend/husband/boyfriend(y)

Just had a chat with a mate and he's thinking of buying a race battery. They can weigh as little as 5 kilos and start at about £60.

DanGil, did you fit the cams, how did it go? Which ones did you go for, road or racing?

Cheers,

Matt.

I've ordered road as the racing ones only make power above 5k and idle roughtly, they still have'nt arrived (ordered 14th Feb(n) ).

Shame. I am a little intersted in them too, again the road ones. Well, here's hoping they arrive soon !!!

I was'nt expecting it take this long tbh, i'll post up when they arrive.

Oi! As half Italian, I take exception at that - I could remind you that you could be driving a MG TF oh wait those aren't British anymore.....;)
