Hi All.

Just saying hi as I am new to the site, had my 1998 B now for about 9 months and love it.

I've bought a chrome Barchetta Badge from Germany, it arrived with no instructions and a one sided piece of sticky tape. Just wondered if anyone has fitted one similar and can give me some advice, plus do you need to fill any holes after you remove the Fiat Badge?:)

Thanks

Heat gun to remove the old badge with, clean, stick logo on top. I just did this yesterday :) The double sided tape I got with the badge (bought it on eBay.de) was good for nothing, so I ended up using some sort of tape that Ford sells for fixing the interior mirror with. Sticks like something very sticky :)

The 'c' and 'e' in Barchetta covered the holes nicely.

Many Thanks. The main issue was that the badge arrived with no sticky attached and only one sided sticky tape. Thought I might have been missing something simple but I will just go and get the Ford tape you advised. Thanks.

Did you get it from DJH Chromline (or something similar) via Ebay? If so, the tape included is in fact double sided, but it's nigh on impossible to seperate the two layers....piece of w**k. So, yeah, go for the Ford tape; they sell them in 2x3cm (or so) pads; 2 of those should suffice. Just use a scalpel or a sharp knife and cut small squares of it, et voila.

My badge has stayed on for a full 24 hours now...:D

Hmmm

The one I got had a peel off back and was adhesive. I just planted it stright on.

I have been told to fill in the holes that are left by the original badge. I used a putty from halfords. Something to do with water getting in there and causing rust.

Yes I did get it from DJH Chromline, I've had another look at the tape and your right it is impossible to split. I will fill the holes before sticking it on as suggested. Cheers.

Hi Welcome

Can you let me know where you got the chrome badge from and is it for the centre of the boot as i have been looking for one thanks zoeh

Personally I thought the item was a bit expensive from DJH, it might be worth having a look round or asking if any owners got theirs from elsewhere.

I paid about €28 incl p&p for mine (would have cost €36 if I bought only 1 item, but I also bought some brushed steel for my speedometer), so agreed, could have been cheaper - but looking at my B now it was definately worth it.

hi Robot thanks for the link can anyone tell me what sofort & neu means also has anyone bought the chrome bars from them are they any good and are they worth the money - i am thinking of getting both items for my B WHEN SHE IS BACK ON THE ROAD OF COURSE.

Hi Zoeh;
Sofort means immediately and neu is new!!
Please keep us updated with your engine, did you drive it without sump plug??

Hi thanks for translation. i will keep you updated on engine i did drive it wirhout the sump plug but i am not sure if the oil light came on. i've gone from my 2 seater baby to what i feel is a bus a kangoo van. I have a feeling this is not going to get sorted very quickly so i think i'm stuck with happy bussing for now. I am livid with Caledonia Fiat and Fiat UK. any suggestions on what to put in a letter. Zoeh

YEP they said it was there when they worked on the car and was hanging by 1 thread but let me take the car when i got home there was no sump plug or oil and i only drove 10 miles

You really REALLY need to speak to a solicitor, if it was me I would be getting interviewed by the police right now because the service manager would be sporting a couple of shiners:mad:

Oh my god you have just set my husband off again that is exactly what he wanted to do on Thursday especially as I was in tears. I have a feeling that may still be the case if i have to pay for this problem to be sorted. Anyone know rockerfellas number.

This as really angered me nearly as much as you:mad: Not only is it a duty of care the garage has but it is a basic fundamentalthing to do, if they see that all is not well with the sump plug, especially if they say it was "hanging by a thread", they should never have let you leave the garage. I just cannot believe it:(
