I think I've seen on this forum that the water temp needle should settle around 1/4. However, mine runs at nearer 1/8 unless I'm stuck in traffic. I think it's since I put a CDA air-filter on it.
I don't think it's a thermostat problem as the car warms up quite quickly.
Most people try and reduce the under-bonnet temperature, so does anybody know if running a little cooler is a problem?
Does anyone else's Barchetta run the same?

Hello Matt,
My Bachetta heats up to 60-70C under loose traffic, no matter if I push it or not. The needle is permanently very low (1/8 is probably were it is).
In case I get stuck in traffic, it very quickly goes to a bit over the 1/2 but thank god stays there. I dont think this is a problem since my car has recently been seeing my mechanic more often than me, so he would have told me about it.
One general tip is that you should not opperate the car to the limits when you are below 60C-70C or so because the oil is considered to be cold and may damage the engine. Another thing is that the hitachi-VVT system only works above 60C.
If you are worried though, I would suggest that you visit a garage to check it out.
Good luck!

Thanks for that. I was pretty sure it was OK, but I'm mulling over the idea of manifold insulation and don't want to cool the engine bay further if it was already too low.

Cheers,

Matt.

I have an oil cooler and the manifold is covered in copper heat tape as well as a few water pipes. She now runs a lot cooler then stock. She sits on the half way mark on the temp gadge after 10 mins (ish) and its hard to get her over that however I drive.

When I only had the green airfilter intake she ran a little hot under traffic.

Oil cooler made a big difference.

Mine sits just under half on the most part. Will rise just above when driving hard or idling for a long time. Never gets to three quarters tho... Fan kicks in and lowers temp pretty quick

No additional cooling mods either.

If you have aircon you have two fans on the rad. I was thinking of upgrading my B with the aircon two fan system. I think this would speed up the cooling when stuck in traffic on a hot summers day. Yes I know we only have one day like that a year, but its a great excuse for another mod ;-) hehehe
