Has anyone had problems with the central locking. Mine doesn't appear to operating. I'll check the fuse but wondered if anyone has had a similar problem, if there were other occurrences..?

Mine has only ever locked on passenger side & it unlocks ok both sides.

It isn't opening on drivers side now, which is very annoying

I would like some ideas aswell please??

The central locking servo is part of the door lock. Its easy to take out the lock from the door and give it a good oil.

If you do find its stuffed I have seen a few on ebay for sale (see link below)

Also check the yellow original central locking relay thats under the dash in the passenger side (Big yellow box) A replacment is cheep and you could upgrade to remote central locking like the one below . (£30 Ish)

Its only 3 bolts and two rods, so it does not take much to get the lock out (simple job)

When I fitted mine it did not work and felt as if it the lock was stuffed. I put some copper grease on all the moving parts and it worked fine after that.

PPS You can get the remote's loads cheaper then £80 !! I have the same set and mine and it was £40 from eBay.

If you have central locking and you want to turn it into remote central locking then get the kit above. You just have to replace the yellow relay with the new remote one and thats it !!! You dont even need a screwdriver !!!

If you dont have central locking then you will need to upgrade the locks in the doors as well as the door wiring. This is not that hard to do as its all just a simple swap and plug in. (y) (y)

Hi ! Is the original relay same as in other fiat models ?

Hi,

My central locking was very temperamental when I first got the car and jiggling the yellow relay helped. I took it out and gently bent the pins so that it was a nice tight fit and it's given no problems for years. Try that before you fork out any cash.

Hi, can anyone post a photo of the 'yellow box' under the passenger side. I'm sure my B has the lock actuators but they are not working. I would like to convert it to remote at some stage but I suspect the 'manua' locking needs to be working first?

Thanks for that, now I know what I'm looking for I assume if the box is missing central locking was not fitted.

Ok, I've found the big yellow relay and given it a wiggle but nothing...
I have a 2005 B and both the door locks feel like they have actuators in, is there some other wiring or relay that is missing on mine?
If it has the yellow relay, does that mean it did have central locking fitted from new? or was it the case, all the wiring was there but it needs something else to power it up??

Well that's good news at least, now I just need to find out which part isn't working, any ideas how I can check? or any ideas which is the most likely?

Yes that is the problem, the key locks both doors individually, I can feel the lock actuator in each door as I turn the key but they don't work together. As I said, it's like they are not wired up or something, could it be the yellow relay? both the door lock actuators feel free and operate how I would expect them to. I did read some time ago there should be an extra relay under the bonnet on the bulkhead, is that right?

I would like to convert to the remote locking as described in the post above by replacing the yellow relay but I'm reluctant to do anything until I can get the manual central locking working. Any suggestions would be welcome.....and yes I have just had my booster jabs to protect me. :)
