Technical Central Locking

Technical Central Locking

Found it!!!!!!
Hi All,
at last and after a lot of searching I have fixed my central locking. Turned out to be a fuse missing!! Next to the big yellow box is a fuse holder with provisions for two 20a fuses. I noticed one was missing and hey presto, sorted.
Just as a matter of interest the other fuse is for the electric windows, I know this because I used that one to try out the other :)

I will upload a couple of images showing the wiring diagram for the central locking on the Barch (also includes the ones that have an alarm fitted) if I can work out how to do it.

Hope this will help someone else.

Barchman

Here are the images, if you look at the photo that Will put on earlier, the fuse holder is to the right of the yellow control unit. B

Yes, I had to really, the car is 2005 with 18,000mls (dry) so it is like new. I bought it last year to replace my 1999 model. I spoke with the last owner who told me the local Fiat dealer told him on the first service that some cars had it fitted and others didn't. He just thought it was one that didn't so it has not been working from new! I suspect the fuse was missed at the factory, but I think it should have been sorted by the dealer, it was obvious to me that it was all there.

Still, sorted now, on to the next job, replacing the black vinyl roof with a blue mohair to set off the yellow body :)

Hi, I've been following this thread with interest. Mine's a 2001 B, and seems to be lacking central locking and one or two other features. Had a look at the wiring diagram posted here, but I'm no electrical engineer! Took a picture of the fuse box under the passenger side, and it's clear there are 3 fuses missing. I wonder if someone could tell me what each of these fuses corresponds to and where I can buy them. I guess I should take off the red panel and see what else is missing..

Hi Barch,

Your photo is from the opposite angle to mine ( and is in focus too ;)), and you can see that the all important yellow relay is not there. In the handbook documentation that came with my car there is this leaflet for the relay and the two remote fobs. The serial number is CAT. 46001190 - try running that past the parts department and see if you can get one.

Thanks Will, that's great. Looks like a simple plug & play job! I've fired off an email to Fiat UK for a price. I guess the 2001 Naxos B has all the other parts in situ to make it work..

Here's a picture of my board and you can see the two fuses to the right of the yellow relay, the 20a one at the front is for the central locking.
