happy new year to all on the forum

yes they do have a aftermarket, but any part has too be put on the log book

You made me laugh when you said "this is spain". We say that all the time...

Anyhow, its too late for you now, as if you have got to the ITV part, you are very close to the full import stage and the glorious moment of being presented with the 2nd set of plates but just in case anyone else reads this... I imported my barchetta last year into Spain and my tip is "use RACC". It took 8 weeks and the process was smooth as silk. I had to join RACC and maybe it wasn't the cheapest way but, for hassle, by Spanish standards, it was a doddle (I still don't quite know how I ended up with the stamped signed certificate saying that, according to his inspection, the car was exactly as it had left the factory but, as you say, this is Spain). And also, be careful with your documents, mine were snatched off me eagerly on my first visit to RACC, never to be seen again, and I had to buy another Reg Doc off the DVLA just to be able to send it back to them to export the car from the UK (which is not part of the import process).

But we have taken on board your comments about the DTR box and the ITV inspectors and will prepare ourselves accordingly for this or any other changes we make in the future...

Good luck

i wished i knew about the race before ,but that all part of the learning curve
in spain
these car are great here with the weather ,except in the height of a malaga summer when i find it too hot with the hood down but now is fine

I know what you mean, I put the hood up for a bit of shade in the middle of the day in the summer. But I left it too late driving up the "motorway" from Madrid to Zaragoza in June and ended up with a beautiful tan on one side of my nose...

What are the roads like down there? Driving down to Madrid, the Spanish truck drivers deliberately slowed me down (by basically pulling out and blocking the road in front of me) going over one stretch of the A2 down the mountains - and when they had guided me over the crater of a pothole that would have thrown me all around the road I understood why. Bless 'em...

Can't wait to get me little car back but El Mecanico tells me that he can't fit me in until 18th (apparantly me valves are stuck open, he is refreshingly unsexist about explaining things to me and the fact that we speak different languages is no bar either, he just speaks slower) and so I must wait some more... we are having brilliant weather at the moment and it would be perfect to have been driving around with the roof down this weekend...

yes the weather is great around 19 the driver here drive at two speeds 30kms or 130kms and nothing in between, and up your rear bumper which drives me mad but hey it,s spain i find it hard to belive that some of the old boys have passed a test one of the other hazard are rotvators that they drive on the roads and those tiny cars with 400cc going up moutains but hey its spain!!!!!!!!!!
regards gary
