Hi,
My B has done 72,000 miles on a 1999 T plate. The parts that have gone this year are:

Driveshaft CV boots.
Rear suspension swing arm pivot bush (one side only so far)
Rear bearings.
Front anti-role bar bushed (real soon)
Two hood rubbers on the windows.
The rubber seal around the hood lid door.

I Just want to see if any patterns appear.

Doc orange Peel

2002 Model.

1 x Imobliser
1 x Oil Pump
1 x Cooler
3 x Heat Shields

Bought it brand new and in 3yrs had the above. It had to go. My winter car 1998 306 Desiel, not spent more than £600 in 8yrs.

And Pugs are not the best ether.

2004 Model.

New set of dampers at 24,000 replaced under warranty

Failed original Fiat part oil filter, "fitted at 12k service" according to service documentation, failed through corrosion at 22k miles. Sorted under warranty. Suspect it was the original and that I was shafted by the service agent (not my current dealership, thankfully). I live by the sea and the car gets two open-deck ferry rides each week, so something I need to keep an eye on in future!!

Cracked rear number plate light (possible stone damage) - replaced under warranty.

We've got an excellent Fiat dealership down here :worship: . Nothing is too much trouble and the service pricing is pretty good too.

...and four new tyres - any idea how long original P6000's should last? ta.

Well I'm up to 25k miles and have 3mm left on the fronts and 4mm on the rears. So I'm hoping to make it to 30-35k on the front and 40-50k on the back. I always liked P's on previous cars so will probably stick with them.

Had the P6000, because of cupping wobbling all over at 40-45Kkm.
Not the first owner of the car so don't know at what km's they went on.

Now driving Bridgestone Turanza er300
[Potenza not available in 15"]
Less noise and cuts through corners like a razor [asymmetrical profile, whereas P6000 symmetrical]

Does anyone know what a knocking noise from the front end of the car would indicate?

I have a warranty on the B so it should be a no cash problem.

My local indie FIAT mech thought it may be the wishbones as he couldn't see anything wrong with the suspension. He didn't have time for a good look as the car was in for it's cambelt change and I just asked him if he had the time to look at it.

Any clues?

Jon

Er......a knocking noise. Not sure how to describe it in a better way.

It seems (to my ear in the driver seat) be coming from around the passenger footwell area. Mostly noticeable on uneven surfaces.

Someone posted a similar thing here recently but haven't updated as yet.

My wife is too scared to drive the car so can't get a better hold on where it is coming from.

Sorry for the lack of info

Jon

Get under the car and have a good feel round would be what I would do. Check the wheel for lateral play and make sure the wheel nuts are not loose on that side. Spin the wheel by hand when the car is on a jack to see if you can hear the knocking. (Put the car in neutral first and with the engine off)

Does it sound more body knocking or engine knocking if that makes any sense heheh.
