Re: Fitting a Fiat Coupe 2.0 turbo engine in a Barchetta

This looks like it will do the job.

TD05H-18G turbocharger with 8cm turbine housing for NISSAN SILVIA S14 / S15 or most of European car with T25 Flange

Click me

TD05H-18G turbo is good for 1.8~2.5L engine and can support around 350 BHP

What do you think ?

looks good mate, Ask them all the specs on it tho. includeing measurments, then see if you have the space. your also most likey going to have to get a new radiator, as this turbo gives out ALOT of heat and loves cool water.

Quick question........once you are pumping circa 180+ bhp how do you get it on the tarmac without changing the tyres daily? Is it possible to fit a LSD and/or traction control?

Re: Fitting a Fiat Coupe 2.0 turbo engine in a Barchetta

I remember reading a detailed blog from a guy who'd done a DIY turbo on an MX5 in Australia. He claimed 200Hp+ at the wheels from a rolling road.

He reckoned it was an interesting project which ruined a good car. He wished afterwards he hadn't done it. Lots of heat, B* to work on the engine bay with all the pipework etc, spoilt the balance of the car, no traction control and scrubbed tyres. He also had to uprate the brakes & clutch. Car apparently handled like a missile with the same sort of issues in steering.

I've got a Coupe 20Vt which gives me enough grief as a factory designed turbo car. I wouldn't want to stand near a B turbo.

Re: Fitting a Fiat Coupe 2.0 turbo engine in a Barchetta

I would tend to agree in principal. I'm just not sure where the limit for the Barchetta is.

I also think the Doc has upgraded suspension, fatter tyres, a strut brace and better brakes, which of course should help.

My brother has got a 1.6 turbo MX-5 which seems fine, but it's nearer 160 than 200bhp.

My personal feeling is that the Barchetta is good for 180bhp with modifications like Docs.

Again, at a personal level, I'm more interested in a fast racing cam like DanGil has ordered.

On the other hand, perhaps an LSD would solve a lot of problems?

Cancelled the order last week, i've been waiting since early febuary for them. If you contact Gazzella racing you could probaly take over my order and be 6 months into it.

Are you going to try elsewhere (Kent cams), or have you given up on the idea?

Re: Fitting a Fiat Coupe 2.0 turbo engine in a Barchetta

Given up tbh, would of loved to see the diffrence they made though.

I picked up a 16vt cheap and i'm currently rebuilding it,

I can take some pictures of the mounts if anyone wants to see what they look like, sizes etc. The coupe driveshafts are fatter and the splines are extremely similar but not the same.

A labour of love? Looks like you've got your work cut out there -)

I just found http://www.tuningshop.co.uk/acatalog...hetta_177.html
but it seems a little pricey.
