Technical Fitting a Fiat Coupe 2.0 turbo engine in a Barchetta

Hi
If you look closely you can see it does look almost the same as the B lump.

Only problem is its only a 2.0 non turbo unit giving out 150HP@6,800 RPM

The lump in the B gives 130.00 BHP (95.7 KW) @ 6300.00 at stock so is the 2.0 Alfa engine the best choice ??

Look close at what?! All I see is a bit plastic cover!

Surely the block is very similar to the Tipo 2.0 16v/Coupe 2.0 16v which obviously comes with a turbo version.

if the 1.8 fits then the 20vt should fit with the same clearance of the bravo's why not look into using a supercharger? it would be better acceleration and less internal work is needed to put decent boost through the engine!
using an m45 on stock internals should give you about 150-160bhp wich in a car as light as a B would make for a petty fast car,

all you would need is a intercooler of the 20vt, Eaton M45 charger off a cooper S, a bit of pipe work and the belt from the aircon and a custom bracket. i bet you could do it for under a grand.

no its claymores mine will have the M62 hopefully if i cant find a 20vt to drop in, but it does fit just and is defonatley different, if ya go on the marea weekend check it out thread in the styling section hes put a vid of it up, sounds like when its mapped it should defonatley make a diference.

You might get it in if you remove the rad and rad fan but you still have to fit that and an intercooler back in. The barchetta has a beam the runs across the front that really gets in the way.

The two rad fans are only 5-7mm off the manifold.

as you've moved your battery i think you might be able to squeeze a 20v N/A in there! i dont think there will be room for the turbo without relocating the rad.

you would also need custom driveshafts else your wheels will be 6 feet out the arches lol

The plan at the mo is to just get a custom manifold made and fit a turbo. The B does have room in the bumper for an intercooler infront of the rad.

What turbo do you think would work well with the 1.8 VVT lump thats in the B? Stock is 130 ish BHP and I would like to hit the 200 BHP max if poss. I would like a turbo that will work well from say 150BHP - 200bhp as I progress the engine mods.

try on the mazda forums for a BBR conversion they are good for 300bhp with uprated internals but run about 200bhp on the 1.8's as a bolt on kit

My brother's got a BBR on a 1.6 MX5. I'm happy to pass on questions or put you in touch if you think it might help.

Matt.

your best bet is somthing like a t25 or T25/28 as they spool up pretty good but still well capable of 200bhp, the best would be a T2 but i dont think it would produce 200bhp

i'm thinking more along the lines of a T3/T4 hybrid, 46 trim, 360 thrust impeller. ball bareing. they spool pretty quickly and can make upto 350 BHP. plenty of room for expansion. but then i think of the wastegate. if space is tight that would just get in the way, so need to go external wastegate with a relocation pipe. some kind of BOV, prefrably recirlative. but 200BHP on an NA engine, thats Forgies teritory, or a decomp plate, but thats just getting sloppy. i could ramble away all night at this.
