Hello:

New B owner here in Canada. I have a 1996 model and I have a trouble light that briefly stays on for a few seconds and then goes out after starting the car. My cluster cover is not the white OEM one but is instead something a previous owner installed that has led lights built into it. The light I am talking about is the one between the Battery light and the ABS light in the picture below. It looks like an injector light maybe but I've never seen this pictogram on any car before. The owner's manual I downloaded does not have a picture of this symbol in it at all. For other 1996 owners (or anybody) what picture do you have between the battery and the abs trouble light when you turn on the ACC key mode?

That's very interesting. I never noticed the two different clusters on Page 8. It clearly shows a different symbol for that one spot. I have the panel in kilometers on the left of Page 8. But again on pages 30-32 where it explains each symbol it doesn't say what the curious symbol is. Does anybody know what it means and why would one panel have different trouble light then the other just because one is in kms and the other in miles?

Yes, it is the fuel injection light, it comes on after start up and goes off after a few seconds. If it stays on it’s not necessarily a problem with an injector, it could be an electrical issue in the system.

Thanks for the responses. Good to know what it is and even better to know it normally stays on a few seconds and then goes out (as mine does).

On another topic just fixed the cold solder joint on my cluster and now have a working odometer thanks to this great forum. Happy to be a member!
