Hi everyone,
My Barchetta has failed it's MOT on excessive chassis rust, there's also rusted rear suspension parts but I have those.
The question is: I'm in the Midlands (but that's not an issue as I'm prepared to travel) and I was wondering if anyone here could recommend an expert who could carryout chassis renovation work?
I've had a couple of mechanics look at it and they agree it needs a specialist.
The car is too good to scrap, it's mint from the frame up with a sound motor and box.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

DTR are easy to contact but they don't do patch up jobs .

They will restore the entire underside for ££££££££££££ but I also think their bodyshop is probably booked up with their own stock of restorations.

Take a look at their website at works in progress ,some of them have thousands of hours put into them ,most often to put right previous dodgy repairs and I wonder how they make a profit out of them .

Thanks for the responses, I'll check out DTR.
The car is probably only worth around £7k at best (with the restoration) so, depending on their costs it may not be worth it.

With regards to the pictures, the car is in France (I said MOT for ease of explanation), I'm heading back over in a couple of weeks, I could get some pictures.
I'm prepared to bring it back if I could find someone to take care of it, I've had it 5 years and absolutely love it, it's so well suited to the region we are in.

Hi Mark, where abouts in France? I have used a body shop in Figeac who has restored his own American muscle car from the bottom up. If you are close enough he will always have a look and quote. Also perhaps you can do preparaty work such as removing the seats, fuel tank, plastics to make the job cheaper.
Note always disconnect the battery before removing the seats so the airbag light is not affected.

Hi Steve,
I'm in the South West near Marciac, have had a look where you are and its around 3.5 hours from me so that isn't an issue.
How would I get hold of your man?

Cheers. Mark.

Mark, the body shop is: Carrosserie du Cele, Route de Rodez 46100 Figeac. HUZE Stephane Tel 0565 34 54 17.
If you french is okay give him a call and explain the problem/work or ask a french speaker on your behalf to taik to him. He will not give a Devis (quote) unless he sees the job. He is usually busy and will need to make a rendezvous for the work after the quote. If I can help out PM me. Don’t forget august is normally a close down for work in France so may take some time to get any work done.

That's great Steve,

I'll speak to him when I get back down in a week or so, my french isn't too bad so I think I'll be ok.
I know all about August holiday, I just want to know if it's cost effective.
I'll make an RDV and get it up to him, it'll be a day out, I'll have to get a trailer as there's no CT.

Thanks for your help.

Mark
