Hi all, recently changed thermostat and now temperature is perfect.

However, shortly after changing the stat, when the engine is hot and at motorway speed, 119kish, the injector warning light comes on and sometimes will stay on our go off shortly to appear again.

The car seems to be running perfectly, no other issues, sweet as a nut, bit confused.

You need to connect to the ecu and read any stored codes

Ok thanks, now the killer question, where and what connector/software do o need?
The car is 98 June I think, I have looke at various posts re the ECU and am totally confused, is there an idiots guide to understanding what/where/how to read the ECU on various revisions?

I think my car is on the cusp of all the changes so don't know where to start.

Cheers

Finding your diagnostic socket/ plug and posting a picture of it will help.

Hopefully a barcetta owner will recognise it and chime in.

Has the mil coming on and off coincided with the cam belt change and coolant temperature sensor change?

The cam belt was changed about a year ago, but the problem sender's to be linked to changing the thermostat, before I changed the stat, the engine was never reaching full temp.

Hi, as you can see i was tricked by my phone changing words on my behalf.

What I meant to say was the problem seems to be linked to changing the thermostat, as it was all good before that, just never coming up to temperature.

Could it be as simple as a dodgy temperature sensor/connector which you disturbed when changing over to the new thermostat?

Ok, so a little progress. Today the car went to a very friendly local garage, a chap I've used for all sorts before, very competent.

However, he couldn't get any connection to his software despite using various combinations of adaptors and wiring.

What he did establish is the ECU is a Hitachi unit for sure and the connector is located on the bulkhead inside the engine bay on the right top corner as you look into the engine bay.

So, I've searched through various past re odb, ECU, etc and simply cant make sense of the information as there seems to be so many options.

Is it possible for someone to summarise in simple terms what connectors I need to buy and what software I need to get connected?

Many thanks in advance for whoever tries to educate this dimwit but still very happy owner!

Hi, I bought the cable recommended, great seller, really keen to help, it finally worked after a bit of fiddling.

It looks like the lambda probe may be failing, it's only showing .2 volts, my mechanic reckons that means its sick, any thoughts?

It's going back in this week for him to get a multimeter view on it as he reckons is often cabling as much as the sensor, wants to check before getting a new one. Does anyone know if my barchetta born march 98 has a two pin or three pin lambda?

Cheers all
