What would you do? I had a steering pump leak diagnosed by someone who did not have the facility to access it for repair. I took it to a repair facility and asked them to repair the steering pump. They returned the car and I paid them (Roughly 400 GBP). on starting the car the next day the steering was again noisy and bubbling at the reservoir. I took the car back and they said they had repaired the steering rack and they now found the pump was leaking! This is what I asked them to fix in the first place!

Well a first thing I would be looking for is a full written cost breakdown of everything they did.

If they do not provide then smell a rat.

If they do then check their breakdown. £400 is one hell of a lot for labour charges. Look at part costs, etc.. If they claim for example a new x/y/z then you should/legally be covered by those part failures. And as they sourced and fitted them then they are liable for replacement labour costs.

Suggest don't argue up front. Get the breakdown in writing. From there you your work forward.

S130 Thanks for the guidance. Unfortunately I had to pay another R3,500 to have the pump reconditioned (About Euro 175). At least after having to wait for a month to get the car back (because I had to leave it there - as a pensioner I had to gather funds!). At least it is sorted now. Not happy about their stupidity.
