Technical Very rough running

My ICV was seriously dirty, so I cleaned it up last weekend. I've got a new one being delivered next week, just in case.

Hose wise I've clamped up the blue hose next to the brake servo hose, clamped up the brake servo hose and also the breather hose.

Actually saying that I did all of this when I had the ICV connected, so I'm going to try all that again with the ICV disconnected too.

Are there any other hoses I should be looking at?

Update.

The car is now at DTR after I removed and rechecked all the hoses.

They have checked the plugs, coils, hoses, IACV and MAF and all checked out OK.

They think it may be a leak on the inlet manifold itself, but cannot confirm currently due to the car being warm. They will let the engine cool and then try to diagnose a crack in the inlet manifold.

If thats the case its gonna be costly : /

I'm not saying you should do this, but [we did back in my younger days] we would take a small plumbers torch, which always had a small tip for soldering and slowly play it over an running engine that had a mysterious suspected vacuum leak. The torch was turned on just enough so you could hear the hiss of escaping acetylene and as it came near the leak of an engine at idle the RPM would suddenly increase as the acetylene was sucked into the engine. worked every time:D

My first b developed this problem and DTR made the same diagnosis. This was a few years ago now and they did track down a replacement manifold in Italy but the cost of the part and labour exceeded the value of the car (and no guarantee that whatever caused the first manifold to crack wouldn't repeat the trick on the new one). That sadly was the end of the road for my green LE. Hope you have better luck.

After 5 years without a b I missed it so much I bought another one last year (from DTR) so hopefully you will find a way to keep yours on the road. ?

I assumed it was metal, they always used to be. Plastic! Whatever next. What about plastic welding like they do on motorbike fairings and car plastic bumpers?

Yeah mine is plastic too. Absolutely stupid.

So checks so far haven't be able to provide its the manifold. Might be manifold, might be electrical, might be ECU.

I'd scrap the car if I hadn't already redone its brakes, suspension, rust proofing and exhaust!

They are going to check fuel pump pressure and then if thats OK move onto replacing the manifold I think. Hanks is selling one for 200 EUR which isn't too bad, but its not new, and who knows if its also cracked?

Have you done a compression check? Quite unlikely, but the lack of compression/low power at idle can make the ICV try and compensate causing hunting. I had a Lancia Delta once that was running lean and burnt out an exhaust valve, and was 'almost' misfiring at low revs, and hunting. At higher revs the problem was less pronounced.

I would do it anyway, easy to do, if only to rule it out before spending time/money elsewhere...
