Hey guys just joined the barchetta family :D making new rear window Anyone done this with success? How did you do it, what type of material etc. Thanks cheers guys

Hi,
I did it!
I bought crystal foil for trailers or garden terraces. It is very cheap, about 8 euros a meter.
Then I sewed it.
I first caught it in the middle and in the corners and then I sewed it by hand.
To make the seam beautiful, I drilled the material with a needle from one cm to one cm

That's useful info, thank you.
My B's rear screen was in decent condition but very cloudy. I was able to make it a lot better using some stuff I'd bought to refurbish the dashboard on my old Citroen DS.

Just a small amount of circular rubbing with a decent cloth inside and out and it was a lot more transparent, here it is half way through

That's an impressive difference!

Top tip to avoid the window creasing when you fold it down is to use a length of foam pipe insulation between the folds - the bigger diameter the better. Only hazard is that if you try to erect the hood on a windy day, it can blow away if you're not careful! (Yes, dear reader, I was that person seen running down the A144 like a loon after a piece of pipe-insulation!)

Wow! That looks amazing! I struggle to sew a button on, so I don't think I'd attempt this job!

Thank you!
I watched the movie on YT: How to: Hand stitching leather with traditional saddle stitch. The technique is very similar
I made holes with a needle measuring exactly one centimeter
