Hi all, can anyone advise as to what kit i need to buy to replace the timing belt, water pump and belt tensioners {and anything else i should do while there variator?}

my motor is a 183A1.000 according to the plate, 1989

Version is 183SA1AA.00B

I am confused as i can see various offerings that appear to fit the motor but have different number of teeth, 166 or 168 and also different lengths.

Thanks

Mark

Hi, do you have the link to the thread you mentioned?

do I need to just consider the engine number or the version as well, here is my vin plate, which are the key bits to consider to work out the part i need?

The important number is the Engine Type Number: 183A1000

I suspect that the belt you require is the 168 tooth belt. We have a later "B" with the 183A6 engine and the correct belt for that engine has 166 teeth. A supplier gave me a Gates KP55429XS full kit (Power Grip Belt 5429XS 168 x 24mm, Tensioner T43033 28.5mm dia 65mm, Water Pump WP0028, Pulley T42060) and the belt was to long. Exchanged belt for a 5469XS and was OK. Having provided this info then I STRONGLY advise that you let your supplied choose the correct kit based on your car's VIN and Engine Type. If they get it wrong then they have to sort it out at their expense.

FYI - Your VIN decodes to:

PK - BARCHETTA (1995-2004)

183.829.0.0 - 1750 MPI 16V CF2
Engine: 0985135 Vehicle: 00035487 Manuf. date: 17/3/1998

SPECIAL VERSION NO SPECIAL VERSION (LV0)
M 1.8 16V (183A1000) (M1)
V BASE (V1)

That's great thanks, it has been hounding me to work out which part, I just ordered a kit based on autodoc recommendations as I gave them the VIN so should be good!! I hope.

Thanks again to everyone for their help in navigating the minefield that is owning a barchetta!
