I have to dry the carpet and replace the heater's cell with the same effort. The center console should be removed. I already removed a few visible screws at the front edge of the console and one at the rear (near the footwell nozzle), but where else is the console attached?
Thanks in advance for the answers! :)

Good luck with the project! According to what has been discussed in this forum, it is not difficult but you have to dismantle a lot... I had the same problem, leaking heater and it started to leak quite suddenly. Found it out when there was a strange loss of coolant. The mats, especially on the driver's side were soaking wet. Took a month to dry, I absorbed the coolant first with newspapers, then let the mat dry in air, assisted with occasional hot air blower. I did not dismantle the dashboard, however. I just lifted the mat up on both sides and supported it with strips of wood. The mat is now dry and back in place. I keep my Barchetta as a "summer car" driven only in nice weather so I bypassed the heater. Perhaps some day I will fix the heater...

Our "B" also developed a very small leak from the heater matrix in 2015 @ 41,000 miles. Due to the small size of the leak and catching it early I chose to give Holts RADWELD PLUS Total Coolant Leak Repair - 250ml a go.

Now 2020 and 50K miles old all is still well and sealed up. Also at 48K mile service I changed the water pump and full fluid drain and replace and the old pump and fluid were not contaminated. Same was true when I replaced the thermostat housing earlier.

If you are not up to a major task till the summer comes then you could give RADWELD a go. A lot depends on the size of the leak.

Thanks for the replies. The carpet (and much more at the same time) is now removed, washed and drying. And when I got this far, I'll try to switch the heater when I only have time and courage to try for it. Fortunately, here in the Northern Europe, there is still time before the summer days begin... :)

I also have a lot of body gaskets to find and replace. Whooee, it seems to be difficult and expensive to find the right ones...
