Need help with identifying latest issue. Car starts up and drives good when cold. After warm up the car starts to have the effect that its flooding, so i take foot of accelerator pedal and it clears itself. Can drive fine for few minutes then if u press a bit more on the petrol, flooding/ lack of air effect again ??
So i changed the crankcase sensor, easy job but no differance.
What are the symptoms of bad camshaft sensor ?
What else could i look at ???

Hi, try the usual stuff, i.e,
check for splits in the hoses delivering air from the aircleaner box through to the intake manifold,
Is the slow running solenoid clean?
Is the Maf sensor clean?
Spark plugs,
Earthing wires secure
Fuel pump whirring away, strong noise can be heard on ignition on.

Hopefully someone will jump in with some better direction I feel your frustration,
Steve D

Ok guys thanxs, will take a look !!what is slow running solenoid ? I changed the idle solenoid already. Mafs, sparks clean,no noises !!

Test the fuel pressure regulator, it’s easy to take off and inspect and cheap to replace but release the fuel cap and wrap a large rag around it when prizing it off.
I removed the fuel press reg and nothing appears wrong.
What are physical signs if its not working ??
The vacuum pipe is dry.
When i removed vac pipe no petrol came out.
If i remove vac pipe when car is running what should happen ??
What is the electrical connection, blue plug going into the thermostat ?

I bet it's a split Inthe rubber hose before the air mass meter. First place to check for sure.
What is the issue of a hole before the MAF ??
I understand there would be a problem if it was after the MAF, but not before.
I have an Air Cone filter and have done away with air filter housing and pipe work. But thats all before the MAF so it should adjust accordingly ??

Would this dirty fuel filter cause the problem ?
Amazingly it was only changed 4000km ago. Seems bad for that time, must be dirty fuel here in Spain.

Wow, looks bad, what year is the car? Mine is 98 and I can't work out if I have an in line filter or not? I guess that is an in line filter, think my stumbling, misfire problem might be the same thing. It is fine some times and rough as dog others, feel like fuel starvation to me.

Went for a drive today and within first 5 mins car still not performing properly, some hesitation !!
After 15mins when car was warmed up i stopped and switched off engine. On start up 2 mins later car performed perfect, no hesitation, pulled away great !!
So why ??
Why perform perfect now ?
Although i bought a new idle solenoid im not sure its good.
Is it that its like running with choke on ??
But starting up when warm then no probs !!

Inline filter is under the petrol tank. Get rear up on ramps, and go underneath and infront of the rear axle u will see fuel pipes and fuel filter.
Easy to change, 15 mins.

Hi, I believe that sometime around 1998 the inline fuel filter was discontinued. I have a 1998 model and she does not have an inline fuel filter but relies on the filter in the fuel pump situated in the fuel tank.

Ok great, thanks, I am really interested to see what might be the core of this problem as it sounds strangely like mine. Basically it's fine on many times out, but then suddenly decided to misfire and stumble, give it some juice and it clears up and takes off, weird. At one point I thought it was running on three cylinders as the exhaust note was different and reminded me of a Suzuki Cappuccino I once had that was a triple, sort of burble like. It's weird, but I love it!

Having the rear gearbox engine mount changed this week, so when is on the ramps I'll ask the mechanic to check if fuel filter visible.

What do u mean "iĺl ask the mechanic ??
Why do u not do these repairs yourself ?

What are all the sensors which could be related to causing problems with petrol/ air mixture ?
There is one on the throttle body, so what happens if this is faulty. 2, what is that switch/sensor beside the injectors, mine is just behind the engine oil filler cap.
What else ?

The combination of no free time, no real place to work and no real skills adds up to much better all round to pay someone!! BTW, drying out and replacing spark plugs and changing he gearbox mount has transformed the car, problem running gone, now sweet as a nut and smooth all the way. Very pleased with it a the mo,

Salut,

Mark

Today removed the fuel pump from tank , just to check !!
I found underneath the pump was perished rubber disintegrating !!
You can see indentations in the rubber where the pump has been sitting ontop !
So ive removed it all now, or the majority.
Likewise removed the bottom section of the pump and gave the filter a clean. Cleansed out debris sitting in the plastic bottom.
Now i know why my inline filter was filthy after 4000km, due to rubber fragments ??
