I have just put in a new battery, when I try to start I just get a click! So I charged up the old battery .. same problem! This was starting easily before from a jump pack, now I can’t get anything more than a click whatever I try.. I’ve tightened all the terminals, checked the fuses and rocked the car to no avail .. what next? Thanks

If it clicks I'd start with - bad battery terminal connections or earth connection.
BE SURE
Only after that move to anything else.

first of all spin the engine by hand. you never know for sure until you know for sure. !! if it spins , good. if the battery your using is good then the list gets shorter. Bad starter relay, bad starter, or jammed Bendix. Looks like you need to bench test the starter. good luck.

if you checked all the terminals and the battery is charged up that click is a simptom of starter brushes going bad , you probably still can make it work/start but you will need somebody help by starting the ignition and at same time taping the starter with hamer or an iron bar , with the vibration made by the taping the brushes will make contact and it will spin ... it's not a permanent fix ; you will need to get the starter out and fix it !

watch this !
