Today whilst in the process of doing a cam belt change after removing the cooling system header tank I notice the grey oval rear headlamp cover just lying there on the inner wing area.

Thought this was odd so checked the other side. The same again.

Now I now the covers were in place in 2011 so between then and now both of them have self detached.

This is on a 2005 "B".

You may all wish to check your rear covers are in place. I recall past threads about condensation in "B" headlamps so it is worth checking.

You have to remove the header tank because of the small amount of play and clearances,

The header tank has two hose attachment. The bottom main feed hose and the top small bore return flow hose. This small return hose does not allow the cambelt cover to be easily (if at all) removed.

If you release this small return hose your can the pull forward and fold over the header tank out of the way of the cambelt cover. Makes life/job a lot more easy.
