Hi Folks,

Merry Christmas to everyone
smile.gif
. The shopping is done so I've got a bit of tinker time....

My barchetta has an alarm fitted, it looks exactly like the factory fitted one in the '97 workshop manual.

The alarm activates if I use the central locking remote fob, but doesn't if I use the key which I guess is the intention.

I would like to be able to use the remote locking without the alarm, but I don't have the key for the key switch to turn off the alarm module.

Has anyone had any success getting one of theses keys from Fiat?

Failing that I could replace the key switch, there are a few tamper proof bolts before I could open up the alarm.... Or perhaps I could look at putting an additional switch in a wire into the alarm module?

Looking at the alarm wiring diagram it seems to have no immobiliser function, just makes some noise and flashes the indicators to annoy everyone!

Cheers

Mike

Hi

I have exactly the same problem as you!

What do you think about just cutting the alarm wire to the siren? I've often thought about doing it.

Merry Christmas!

My alarm siren has the control built in, so I can't do that. If I was going to cut any wire it would be the one between the alarm and the door lock remote receiver....I think that would leave everything as is, except it wouldn't arm...I'm not sure if removing the alarm completely would have any adverse effect ( I don't think so looking at the wiring diagram for mine, but I'm not sure)

On some models, when you lock and hold the remote button down,it deactivates the siren, but the lights still flash when activated.if that's your intentions, but you have to do it every time you lock the car.Worth a try.

Thanks, yes that does work with mine, and useful to know, although we probably wouldn't remember to do it every time. I removed the alarm unit this morning, with no real difficulty, the car runs fine and central locking works on the key fob fine. I can now in slow time dismantle the alarm and replace the switch. Here are some pictures of the factory alarm fitted to my car[emoji1] [emoji1] IMG_20181230_104550048.jpegIMG_20181230_104558703.jpegIMG_20181230_104624579.jpeg

Hi Happy New Year to you and everyone on the forum.
I am interested to know if you managed to obtain a key for the alarm to turn it off or you just disconnected it.
My alarm has been turned off before I aquired my car, I presume because it was always giving problems.
Regards

Hi, I didn't try....I thought it unlikely (I could be doing fiat a disservice!), so haven't bothered. If and when I refit the alarm, it is straight forward to fit a replacement switch with keys...
