Technical What the bloody hell is going on?!

Hey everyone,

So I'm in the process of putting my B back on the road. After a complete rebuild of the brakes and suspension, rust removal and a basic service it went in for it's MOT and passed with no problems

The car has literally just been driven in and out of the garage a few times and has seemed to start and drive fine. But, when it was driven to the MOT station its has started to misfire and not run right at all.

We managed to get it back to the garage and double checked the timing belt (our first thought) which we had been replaced but all appeared fine.

This could be something or nothing – it seems that from cold the car starts and drives fine for a short while but once its warmed up it's not running right at all... any ideas? I'm thinking the MAF? Or... I dunno... any ideas?

I would start with the MAF unit, but also the air induction pipe work between The MAF and throttle body. It could have a split in it.

I had the same problem last year. I cleaned the air idle valve and the MAF sensor and it’s been okay since. You might want to change the O2 sensor as well.
